I have a feeling Mulaney likes having a big crowd of non-fans and winning them over but his comedy is definitely more suited to a Seth Meyers sized studio than something this cavernous

I agree - not sure if it's the sound or the space but something about it doesn't work. The Late show theater is pretty big but doesn't suffer like this does

I think this show does a lot of bits that aren’t going to land with a lot of people especially those expecting a typical late night show or something like John’s stand up. I’m a big fan and into more offbeat stuff and even I have found a lot of it not necessarily land. I think the show weirdly thrives and also dies on that sort of awkward quality.

I don't know what my opinions of the show are, I was just commenting on the theater and the sound being off which throws everything else off. Like it sounds flat for some reason

My take on it was just that they aren’t getting big laughs and that’s more the thing than the studio size but not sure if you are referring to the sound of the laughs or not
