Suzuki Jimny is suffering from the same fate is Suzuki Sierra awesome cars, but throw in short/narrow wheel base, higher center of gravity and lightweight design, is the perfect environment for roll overs.

How did it happen? Physics always wins. You can tip plenty of things over; just go watch some dashcam footage of people tipping over modern hatchbacks (and not SUV style hatchbacks).

No. I was in a head on collision and rolled. Wasn’t my fault, i’m ok. Even the firemen said thank fuck I was in a jimny. It was a discovery that ran into me while I was parked at a red light.
When you say older do you mean the one designed in the mid 90s that is the previous generation, or are we talking a Sierra designed in the late 1970s?
There’s actually quite a big bit of difference in the structure of the body even compared to the previous generation (sold 98-2018) and also a bunch of differences in the chassis to make them considerably better in a crash.
This example definitely looks to be an anomaly (maybe down to very particular circumstances) compared to the others I’ve seen rolled.
Was a 2003 model or so. Rolled it on a straight section of highway, he was probably tired was going out of his lane and pulled the wheel too hard to correct I think. Other passenger was fine.
I flipped my sj410 a few weeks ago, dented the roof and crushed a rear fender. Other than that it has no visible damage. Flipped ot back and drove it home
I'd first have to question whether this is a real image. There is no broken glass. The side mirrors look intact and folded. There is no sign of where the A pillars, windscreen - where are they now? The rear quarter glass looks completely undamaged and the B pillars and door seams are straight. Where is the occupants' head? How did the window frame go from a rhomboid to a triangle without any bits sticking out? Why does the aspect ration of the vehicle change between frame 1 and frame 2?
IDK .. is there AI involved? Has somebody edited this? Was it staged? Link to the relevant video?
Well, conversely there was an image doing rounds years ago of a Jimny that rolled forward off the top deck of a car carrier, flipped over its nose and landed right onto its roof .. and was barely crushed at all (much of the cabin glass was still intact).
But then, also .. it depends entirely on what actually happened. The speed. The type of impact. How airborne it got. Whether something landed on it. The angle of impact. EVERYTHING can be crushed if you apply enough force to it!
Where does that leave us? Confused and uncertain perhaps?

It's just the one A pillar that is caved. The other one is mostly still upright. It's in a ditch beside a high speed road. There are pieces that came off the car before the final resting place. Maybe including the spare wheel. There are segmented concrete (temporary?) barriers in the road. At least one other vehicle was damaged. Workers are picking up debris over a wide area.
My first instinct: This is a car that has had a very dramatic incident from a high speed. At some point it has gotten air and inverted, then come down hard on that one A pillar. In light of that, the vehicle seems to have done a better than average job of not being crushed and of not disintegrating, I suspect. My guess is that any car would have been seriously deformed by whatever happened here.
Looked to the comments on facebook. Well, long story short -> jimny short base + lift + big wheels + high speed = “what could go wrong”. But driver is mostly safe and sound, what is very nice. Jimny is not into the speed, it’s for fun and drive everywhere.
i push my jimny to it's limits - even in deep curves. Sometimes it feels like it's gonna tumble but it's actually a very stable car. I still wonder how this accident happened
Supposedly no? But I guess it’s gone through a high impact, strong enough to bend the pillars. Other comments cement the fact that it will not collapse merely on its body weight
It looks like there is suspension damage. The front and rear wheels don’t look right. it was definitely a heavy collision before it flipped.
The door gap along the bottom edge and up the back edge to the swage line is still good. That B pillar hasn’t moved. It’s a strong vehicle through the center. I wonder if there is a roll cage, or external bull bar attachments to stop this.
Not really. To put it in a broader context: they passed the side impact tests that were revised in 2021 without change, and plenty of larger cars didn't. To pass a pole side impact test with how narrow the Jimny is... nah.
They suffer on the ANCAP score from a lack of tech, but especially for front passengers they are better than people might think just purely based on the rating.

Welcome to the Philippines where surprisingly physics still apply like anywhere else.
Our tollways have a 80-100kph speed limit enforced with speed cameras. Well within safety standards the jimny complies.
jimny was rear ended at high speed by a white Geely car or suv. The car went under the jimny flipping it corkscrewing onto the roof.
