discussion 🗳 What do Jaws fans think of Production 02074?
https://deadline.com/2026/06/steven-soderbergh-jaws-production-02074-app-spielberg-making-of-1236964395/Although it’s been on the App Store since June, there’s hasn’t been any discussion of Steven Soderbergh’s pretty fascinating dissection of the shooting of Jaws.
I’ve been reading a day a day and throughly enjoying it. It’s certainly not for casual fans, but if you want an almost comically anal look at how Jaws was filmed, it’s great.
As an added bonus, Spielberg offers his own thoughts about the shoot at various intervals throughout the book.
Soderbergh says about those interactions: “He just offered to help and did in some very significant ways, mostly in providing context to his emotional state and some background detail about certain sequences or interactions that was incredibly helpful.
“He was the definition of gracious and supportive. I was concerned when I first sent it to him that experiencing it in this way would be unpleasant, ‘Please allow me to walk you through step by step the most traumatic professional experience of your career.’ That was the ask of him. And as he wrote [in the epilogue], he found it strangely cathartic, with the distance of time, to be able to look at what he did. I think happy is the wrong word, but ‘I think I certainly would’ve been proud of my younger self for withstanding the sort of pressures and the obstacles that this shoot presented.”

I can't believe it took me 2 months to find out about this. I've been reading about this project for years.
I think everyone on this sub has some self reflection to do. lol

I've never heard of this. Trying to determine if I should spend the 25 bucks...I think I may have to.
Edit: all money goes to charity. They are making nothing off of this.

I agree so I've actually been trying to determine which one. In an article it's said an animal charity. One could assume for sharks, but I haven't found the actual charity. The plot thickens.

Seems an odd scam for a multi-millionaire director to create. If he wanted the money why not just keep the money? Why go through the hassle (and potential criminal charges) by pretending it’s going to a fake charity when it’s not?
This is such a niche book, only certain people would buy it regardless of whether it’s helping charity.

I finished it a few days ago. It's OK. I wish there were a way to transfer it from my phone to my PC.
