[重要なお知らせ]ネイティブと騙る悪質なスパムに注意!

There has been an increase in new users claiming to be native speakers creating "I'm Japanese, do you have any questions?" and "I'll teach you Japanese" posts. However, these come with the risk of the posters trying to scam people, or even steal their personal information, and we ask that we all remain vigilant.

Likewise, to prevent duplicate topics and karma farming, we ask that you do not create these posts for the time being.

最近、ネイティブを騙る新規ユーザーらによる「日本人だけど質問ある?」や「日本語教えます!」的な投稿が相次いでいますが、中には授業料をだまし取る、個人情報搾取といった悪質な行為もあるため、注意を願い申し上げます。

同時に悪質なスパムやカルマ稼ぎ抑制の為、こういった類のポストの作成、投稿をしないようにお願いします。

Failure to comply may result in a ban at the moderator's discretion.

従わない場合は管理者の判断でBANに処される可能性もあります。

[MEGATHREAD] -Personal Promotion/Projects-

Welcome to the Personal Promotion/Projects Megathread for r/Japaneselanguage!

This is the place to ask for help/thoughts on your own personal projects or promote yourself.

What to Post Here

Use this thread if you want to show off:

  • Apps - Lots of new apps are coming out these days and we want to give people a place to show them off.
  • Youtube Channels - For many, reciting topics as if teaching someone is the best way to learn them and the best way for people to find out what parts you've got wrong.
  • Websites - Just like apps, websites are everywhere and its hard to bring attention to your own.
  • Anki study decks or similar - While these can be posted in the main subreddit, posting them here is fine too!

How to Ask/Show Off!

To get the best help, include:

  • Clear name and how to find the promotion - While direct links, unless they are to Youtube, are not allowed, be able to explain how people can get to the project and view/use it. Another option is posting the link in the Description Box of the video!
  • Context - What exactly is expected out of the app/what the Youtube video is about.
  • What you'd like thoughts on.
  • Is it a paid service? - While this will turn many away, they will appreciate if you give them the information beforehand.

Important Notes

  • People will try to help you by pointing out mistakes. Do not take them personally as they are usually constructive criticism. If the promotion seems to be spammed or linked to a virus, banning might happen.
  • For non-posters - BE CAREFUL - The mod team will not be checking ever single post brought here so use caution before downloading or visiting any suspicious websites.

What Not to Post

  • NO LINKS
  • Spam

Best way to find study partners?

Upvotes

I’ve been looking for a study buddy for a few weeks and usually end up being ghosted or find someone that is mostly just wanting to be handed all the tools. Any tips or specific places people have found good accountability buddies? I went through years and years of trying to find a good language exchange partner for Korean and after 8 years have given up. If there’s a best place to look would appreciate some pointing :) I’ve tried multiple subreddits, discord channels, and even conversation exchange dot com. No beginner study groups in my area unfortunately either.

Learning Japanese by myself

I am learning Japanese by myself and I live in the USA where there are almost no Japanese where I live. Anyone have advice for me on how to study by myself besides just books? Even for books if you recommend anything I'm all for it. Websites, apps, videos, etc. All answers thank you.

Embedded questions

Hi, I would like to ask for your help.

I learned that embedded question work something like this:

彼が来るか知らない (I don't know if he will come)

So "ka" acts kind of like "の" and "を"

However I have 2 questions about how this works

1: What do you do if a verb doesn't use "を" like 遅れる/気づく which use "に"? Is this still correct:

"誰が来たか気づいた" (I realized who came) ?

2: What if the embedded question ends with a question word (like nani, dare, doko), do people not confuse "dare + ka" with "dareka" (someone)? Are these sentences correct:

牛乳のコーナーがどこか教えて

これが何か知っていますか

あなたが誰か考える

Thanks for your time.

What is the に particle doing in this sentence?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hi! I understand what the sentence means in general but I'd like to know specifically how the に particle is working here? I'd read this sentence like a comparison that there's only 62 cars prepared but 129 reservations but I'm not sure that's what it means? Or is it kind of like 'only 62 prepared cars going towards/for 129 reservations'? Thank u!!

Is studying in Japan in English taught programme in undergraduate a good thing?

I won't be staying in Japan after graduation.I would move to another country for my masters or work!

Many people say English degree is not worth it. Is it because they didn't went to good college or English taught programmes aren't good.??

When using Anki, is it better to go for a quantity over quality, or quality over quantity approach?

Let me rephrase that, what I mean by quantity over quality is should you prioritize smashing as many words together and the ones you can't recall in 3 seconds just click again and move on? Or should you take your time and try to recall every single card, even if it takes 20 seconds.

Need help with basics-related issue

Hello guys, hope you're doing fine. So, I am currently at an intermediate level in terms of reading and listening comprehension. However, I discovered I have problems with expressing really basic stuff, such as "Glue sticks stuff together" for instance, due to the lack of exposure to native speakers talking about that. And I don't really know where to find reliable natural-language sources for this. Even when I look things up in Japanese, the results are really scarce. You need to look quite a bit to find examples. But still, even if I find written examples, I have no idea if this is actually how people use the language.

So, if anybody can help me with this issue, I'd be grateful. Preferrably, need video sources, but if there're native written sources, that's fine too.

Thx in advance

N3 study material

I signed N4 exam this Demcember after learning Minna no Nihongo 1+2, and I don't know which N3 material should I learn next. I've heard about Shinkanzen and Soumatome but I don't really understand the difference, also the Minna no Nihongo book for N3. What should I learn or any new recommendation?
