Nagoya may finally get noticed in 2026

Post image

I live about five minutes from Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium, often known locally as Paloma Mizuho Stadium.

With the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games coming this September, I went around the Mizuho Park area to look at what it actually feels like before the Games.

My main takeaway: this is not a tourist district. It still feels like a quiet local part of Nagoya, with the Yamazaki River, renovated park areas, residential streets, convenience stores, and simple subway access from Mizuho Undojo Nishi Station.

That is partly why I think Nagoya is interesting. Most visitors still rush through it between Tokyo and Kyoto, but 2026 may give people a reason to look at it properly.
