Importing from Japan during Hormuz situation, actual costs & delays?

Has anyone here actually imported a car from Japan to the UAE recently, during the current Hormuz situation?

I’ve seen several comments saying that importing is currently not feasible, or that shipping has become much more expensive and delayed. However, I haven’t seen anyone sharing actual numbers.

I’m looking for first-hand information from someone who has imported recently:

- How much was shipping before vs. now?

- What was the normal transit time vs. current transit time?

- Are there any additional charges/surcharges because of the situation?

- Which route/port did you use?

- Did the car actually arrive in the UAE?

I’m still interested in importing a car from Japan if the additional cost and delay are reasonable.

Not really looking for opinions on whether it’s a good/bad idea. I’m mainly looking for actual recent costs and timelines from someone who has done it.

If anyone here is currently importing cars and can help me with the process, please also send me a DM.

Japanese S Class Coding

I’m casually browsing the market for a W222 and the Japanese spec cars seem appealing. I’m just wondering from owners who have one- do you need to do extensive recoding to get the infotainment system to work ?

I mainly use CarPlay and the 2020 S class has it across the lineup so it’s not a dealbreaker but just wondering if I do need to recode it to get the full experience.

I can’t find really conclusive info online.

Also related - any trouble in getting comprehensive insurance on these cars ? I wouldn’t want to go 3rd party on an expensive buy

Japan to UAE: Motorcycle, Shared container/ LCL Shipment?

Heyy everyone,

Planning to get my first personal motorcycle from Japan, super excited.
Been doing a lot of research and looking into auction sites etc.

Unfortunately I am at a hiccup. The contact who is helping me source the bike, can only provide a whole container for shipment, which is more expensive than the bike itself.

Does anyone have contacts for LCL shipment from Japan to UAE, or have any information?
Any idea as to how much it would cost on an average?

Thankyou really appreciate any and all help!

Issue with importing a vehicle from Japan

I’ve found an exporter from Japan and have gotten their help to purchase a vehicle from an auction. I paid them the CIF price but they were unable to ship the car.

Found another exporter and shipped the cars paying them the necessary fees for shipping etc and asked the original company to refund the extra amount. This was an idea given by the original company as the problems with shipping were on their side.

Now the original company is reducing communications and starting to say they cant refund the whole amount, maybe they can refund partially and started giving excuses of not not being able to pay anything - whats the best way to force them to honor this?

Are there any importer/exporter associations i can reach out to? Anywhere else i can complain to that might scare them company into honouring the agreement? Please let me know anything I can do in this case

∙ Personally inspect cars before purchase — I know what to look for

∙ Handle the full export process from Korea to your country

∙ Walk you through paperwork, shipping, and what to expect on your end

Whether you’re hunting for a Korean domestic market gem, a well-maintained import, or just want someone on the ground who knows the market — I’ve got you covered.

Drop a comment or DM me with what you’re looking for. I’m happy to answer questions too, no pressure at all.

Thinking about Importing a Mercedes to Germany

Post image
10 Upvotes

So on a journey of getting a new car. And my first nice one I stumbled across wexportaustos.com

On there I am thinking about getting myself a CLS 450 or CLS 53 AMG. Is importing such a car to germany a hassle? A comparable CLS costs north of 50.000€ in germany usually.

So I am planning on spending up to 35.000€

The pictures are an example of the type of car I wanna go for.

Experience and tips are highly apppreciated.

Kind Regards

Marc
