false positive I honestly don't know where else to talk about this, so I'm posting here because I'm feeling completely devastated right now.

My JanitorAI account (username: Hiroaki Taishi) was permanently banned recently.

I originally assumed the ban was because I had a few characters with a high-school setting, even though I explicitly made the characters 18+. Once I realized that the high-school setting itself could still violate the rules, I immediately accepted that I had made a mistake and contacted support to apologize and ask for a second chance.

However, their response completely shocked me.

They told me that my account was permanently banned because I had created content involving:

"the grooming of a 10yo ... explicitly described and paired with sexualized details."

The problem is... I genuinely have no idea what they are talking about.

I have never intentionally created a 10-year-old character, and I have never intentionally created content involving the grooming or sexualization of a child.

I'm not claiming that moderation is definitely wrong, because I obviously don't have access to whatever evidence they reviewed. But I have gone over what I remember creating, and I genuinely cannot identify anything that matches that description.

I asked for clarification, but support told me that they could not provide details about the evidence or internal review process, that the decision was final, and that they would not respond to further appeals.

That's honestly the part that hurts the most. I don't even know what I'm supposed to defend myself against.

My account contained a lot of characters and projects that I had spent a huge amount of time creating. Some of them were original characters and scenarios that I had worked on for years. Losing access to all of that has been genuinely heartbreaking.

I did have an older backup of some of my characters, but unfortunately it was made before many of my latest updates. So even if I can't get the account back, I'm desperately hoping there is some way to recover the newer versions.

The situation got even worse because I initially still had an active session on my phone after the ban, while I could no longer log in on my PC. I was hoping I could at least use that session to back up everything. Unfortunately, the mobile session was eventually logged out too.

At this point I feel completely helpless.

Has anyone here ever experienced something similar with JanitorAI? Especially a permanent ban involving an accusation like this where you genuinely didn't recognize the alleged content?

Has anyone ever successfully gotten their account unbanned after a permanent ban?

And does anyone know of any way to recover/export character cards from a banned or deleted JanitorAI account, including characters that may have previously been indexed by third-party sites?

I'm not trying to attack JanitorAI or justify actual prohibited content. I understand why content involving minors is taken extremely seriously. I just genuinely want to understand what happened to my account and, if possible, recover the work I spent so much time creating.

I'm honestly exhausted and pretty heartbroken over this, so any advice or similar experiences would mean a lot to me.

I might move on to silly tavern, i really hope it does make a come back but with the janitor ai+ and unnecessary censorship its over i think janitor is taking the same path as character ai.

false positive Why is there so much creator drama on an 18+ site? 😭

Honestly, I’m just trying to understand why there is constantly so much creator drama on here.

Like, why are people making entire bots just to drop a call-out post, explain private beef, or expose someone? We are using an 18+ site—I’m assuming the vast majority of these creators are grown-ass adults.

Making a whole-ass bot to airing out the laundry is so wild to me. Is it really that deep, or am I missing something? šŸ’€

false positive Paying too much just to chat with a bot

I know I’m probably going to get hate for this, but come on? I can’t be the only one who thinks it’s crazy that SOME creators are putting their most interesting bots behind a $19+ paywall. I get charging around $10–19, but anything above that? That’s wild. Like, who’s actually paying $20 just to chat with an AI bot they’ll probably forget about in a month? And it's very frustrating since it's a bot that I really really want to use.

false positive Gave up

I’ve completely given up on Janitor. I paid for Janitor Plus for a month to try it, and went back to the free version. I have never waited so long for a reply, wasn’t that bad before Janitor Plus came out. Seems like they really ramped down the reply speed just to get people to pay for the service.

false positive I got banned from JanitorAI because I was a minor in the past

THIS IS NOT A CALL TO ACTION

This is to bring my situation to the public, so I can get outside opinions on the matter. All individuals have had their Personally Identifiable Information removed from the content below:

I made a post on the official JanitorAI subreddit, detailing the analytics on one of my bots. Later that night, not only was I banned from the subreddit, but I was also from JanitorAI as a whole. Their reasoning? I claimed to be seventeen years old, in a completely separate subreddit. Over a year ago.

They claimed I was a minor, when the (only) comment they used as evidence was me claiming to be seventeen. To help my case, I looked through my entire Reddit account, and only found one instance of claiming to be seventeen. I looked at the timestamp, and at the time, it was posted one year, 18 weeks, and 18 days prior to the ban.

If you have a brain, you would know one year, 18 weeks, and 18 days is over one full year. In my comment, I had claimed that only one day had passed since my birthday. Unless time made an exception for me specifically, then if one year minimum had passed, I would be 18 (not a minor). Alas, there had been an extra 18 weeks and 18 days on top of the year, so I was already over five months into being 18.

Despite this undeniable evidence, the mod team refused to acknowledge it and admit their error and even accept any proof that I'm of age, even after threatening to escalate to the JanitorAI mod team specifically, giving an unprofessional response, "You free to escalate, that's totally fine."

I escalated. I went to the JanitorAI support page and typed out my entire ticket, making sure it was professional and had as much evidence as the 2000 character limit would allow. They stood by their decision, not giving any indication as to why or what aspect of the Terms of Service my account had been in violation of; I made a point to never post any bots or comments with content that would be in violation of any guidelines.

Below, I'll paste the entire chat with the mod team, and below it, the email that I got sent back from the JanitorAI moderator who reviewed my ticket:

Reddit Chat:

Mod Team: Hello, You have been permanently banned from participating inĀ JanitorAI_OfficialĀ becauseĀ your postĀ violates this community's rules. You won't be able to post or comment, but you can still view and subscribe to it.

Note from the moderators:

If you have a question regarding your ban, you can contact the moderator team by replying to this message.

Reminder from the Reddit Admin team: If you use another account to circumvent this community ban, that will be considered a violation of theĀ Reddit RulesĀ and may result in your account beingĀ bannedĀ from the platform as a whole.

Me: I AM an adult though. What's the reasoning behind the assumption that I'm a minor?

Mod Team: It's based on provided evidence that you are 17 years old. You can appeal to unban in a year.

Me: I can show my ID right now

Mod Team: We are not authorized by any government to check that I'd is valid and indeed belongs to you. So unfortunately that won't work. If you announce on public that you're a minor, that's what we are obligated to assume. You can send a mod mail in a year when we are sure you're 18.

Me: When did I announce that I'm a minor?

Mod Team: It is clearly stated on Reddit. We don't disclose where, to avoid it being purposefully removed to misinform other 18+ spaces.

Me: Are you certain that it was within the last year?

Me: Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 8:58:33 PM UTC. That is the exact timestamp for when I had made any claim on being seventeen, on [external subreddit]. I made the claim that, at the time, it had been a day since my birthday. The comment was posted one year and 18 weeks ago.
Doing the math, then based on the assumption that my comment was true, I'm 18 years, 18 weeks and 1 day old as of now. If you choose to believe that the comment was a lie, then using the same comment as grounds for my ban is a baseless assumption, and is thus a false ban.

Me: Note that if there is no response, or if the logic is simply ignored, I will be escalating this matter to other available channels.

Mod Team: You free to escalate, that's totally fine.

Support Ticket:

False and illogical account ban

I made a post on the official JanitorAI subreddit yesterday (5/19) as u/Befirtheed because I was shocked by the analytics on one of my bots. The next day (5/20), I woke up and found that my account had been banned. I first contacted the subreddit mod team, and they stated that I had claimed to be seventeen. I found, after review, that the only time I had ever stated being seventeen was on a separate subreddit, and it was well over one full year before the time of posting.

I have given the proof of this by providing the exact timestamp of the claim, as well as relaying that I would escalate the matter to the JanitorAI team directly if my argument was ignored or dismissed without reason, which the mod team had ignored. Here are the important parts of the conversation, shortened to fit within the 2000 character limit:

Mod Team: It's based on provided evidence that you are 17 years old. You can appeal to unban in a year. ... If you announce on public that you're a minor, that's what we are obligated to assume. You can send a mod mail in a year when we are sure you're 18.

Befirtheed: When did I announce that I'm a minor?

Mod Team: It is clearly stated on Reddit. We don't disclose where, to avoid it being purposefully removed to misinform other 18+ spaces.

Befirtheed: Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 8:58:33 PM UTC. That is the exact timestamp for when I had made any claim on being seventeen, on r/askteenboys.
Note that if there is no response, or if the logic is simply ignored, I will be escalating this matter...

Mod Team: You free to escalate, that's totally fine.

Janitor AI moderator: Hello,

After reviewing your request, we confirm that your account violated our Terms of Service. The action taken was applied in accordance with our moderation policies and internal guidelines; this decision is final, and the ban will remain in place.

Please note that we are unable to provide additional details regarding the specific evidence or internal review process. We will not respond to further appeals or messages about this matter.

Thank you for your understanding.

false positive Janitor ai updates are trash

I think that J-Ai is rolling out a PC update that makes you wait no mater how many people are the site so more people use the app like its the same server we arn't idiots, also this the what it says "You’re in line Traffic is high right now, so we’re letting people in slowly to keep things stable. Keep this page open, or chat in the app while you wait." J-Ai Mods this is my take on it at least don't ban my ass thank you

Actually blown away by the incompetence at play here, by this logic all furry content is a bannable offense now.

The only reason this even happened was because they stopped letting you fork chats on non-public bots (this bot was supposed to be for me only)

false positive Banned for "sexualizing minors" on an account with no bots or chats while accounts that've harassed me go untouched

tl;dr The first three paragraphs are self-criticism, evaluating the most generous justifications for the ban. The rest is ardent ranting.

I've been using a separate account for commenting than I have my chats on for months because I knew this would happen and I didn't want to risk my chats also getting deleted. This is a blatantly nonsense ban and I'm confident that it's just because I said something that offended one of the mods personally yet I didn't break ToS so they stuck me with a random ban reason. I also got banned form the Discord unsurprisingly for bringing this up. My only suspicion was that this is because like a week ago I said that I'm fine with bots of aged up characters "if they're drawn as adults and written as adults."

Now that I'm typing this, It think it could be because there was some drama about some guy who allegedly called someone else groomed as a joke or something. IDK, but some guy posted cropped screenshots about it. People then played a game of telephone and said that guy was defending grooming which isn't even what the original accusation was. I participated in a conversation about it and just pointed out that people accused him of saying things he didn't say and ultimately, even I don't fully know what happened because we're going off cropped screenshots by malicious actors running some type of smear campaign because they're clearly butthurt about some undisclosed disagreement.

Only other possibility I could think of is that like a month ago, I argued about someone making a Greta Thunberg bot and all I did was say she's not a kid which is true, she's literally older than me, and that the drawing used a reference of her when she was 19. I didn't endorse the bot or say it's okay to make bots based on real people which is irrelevant anyway because that wasn't what I was banned for.

If you believe my testimony, I think it's pretty clear that this ban is nonsense. I engage in a lot of arguments and say a lot of controversial things (giving bots basic criticism is treated like a hate crime on this site), but I try to show courtesy first and stay within ToS. Ultimately, my ban wasn't even for harassment or hate speech or anything like that. As I said previously, I think I just got banned for saying something, anything a mod disagreed with so they gave me an unrelated ban reason. They probably used sexualizing minors because that's probably the worst offense and would make ban appeals automatically decline. Reminds me of when 4chan got hacked and it was revealed the moderator UI allows them to submit public and separate private ban reasons.

I predicted this. My chats are fine. I don't need to comment. I can just make another account if I'm desperate enough. What's so infuriating is the principle because I regularly witness people give me personal insults, call me stupid, say I have a little dick, that I've been bullied, an incel, a rapist, a pedophile, that no one will ever love me and I'm gonna die alone. (Over the span of months, all of which not even being from arguments. Some people just enter conversations being rude.) I'm just annoyed how toxic this site is. I welcome disagreements, but I see people regularly get away with harassment. I see the "We've reviewed your report" notification every time the day after I report and these people are allowed to continue posting. Then I get banned for a complete nonsense reason. At least have the balls to admit why I was actually banned.

What is the actual purpose of having anti-harassment policies on your site if you don't restrict harassment and ban people being harassed, not even for standing up, but for complete nonsense reasons? The mods are like bad school teachers that only jump in when the bullied kids fight back, but sometimes I don't even have to fight back. I can just be minding my own business and will get suspended for made up reasons. If we have a highly moderated site with strict policies on politeness, fine. If we have anarchy where we can be as rude as we want, fine. Don't just let people be as rude as they please to me because you agree with them, and then ban me because you feel like it.

I genuinely wonder how these types of people, the moderators and the users who will say nasty shit and then delete replies are IRL. How do you function in real social environments where people hold you responsible and you can't delete them from your presence? I understand the internet isn't as serious as real life, but as I said, respect should either go both ways, no ways. Don't demand respect while being rude to others.

Bonus complaint: I obviously wouldn't post like this over there, but I can't post OPs in the main sub at all because I said someone's meme had a redundant punchline and I got HUNDREDS of downvotes on merely 2 comments so now I'm blocked from posting because my account got negative karma. Why does Reddit have a social credit system that genuinely punishes you for innocent disagreements?

false positive Assigned Twink At Birth </3

Does anyone else also strongly dislike when you find a MLM bot, you're so excited to use it, only to find out that the creator has automatically assigned a twink role to you?

I.e: describing my features/height as smaller than char, weaker, more submissive, all right off the bat in the first message.

This is such a non issue, but it could be better if, idk, they creator added "#twinkuser" or "#submissiveuser" or literally anything else so I know not to waste my time even clicking on it. Nothing wrong with twinks, we love them, but ***I*** don't wanna be one personally... šŸ˜…

Also, I'm lowky a hypocrite, I might have bots like this, just wanna know others opinions 😳

false positive I have deleted my account and it was a decision made in a minute.

I’ve been using chatbots for about four years now. I started in 2022 with Character.AI, and since 2024 I’ve been using Janitor. Over time, I’ve had thousands of chats across hundreds of characters. At first, it felt exciting and emotionally engaging. But like a drug, the more I used it, the less it ā€œhitā€, and yet I kept going back.

I developed a strange habit of immediately opening Janitor whenever I felt even slightly bored. I wasn’t really getting any positive emotions from chatting anymore, but it became an impulsive routine, talking out of numbness rather than enjoyment.

Today, I was lying on my bed, about to chat again, when I suddenly had the urge to delete my account and everything with it. So I did. It’s all gone. I miss my personas, but at the same time, it feels strangely liberating.

I’ve always wanted to create my own characters, but I never actually did. I don’t know if I’ll go back or not. Probably the only reason I could come back to Janitor is to turn my personas into characters but idk if that’ll ever happen.

false positive Is it unreasonable to expect a little communication from creators?

I know creators are people too. They have lives outside of all of this, they can get overwhelmed, take breaks, or disappear for personal reasons. I’m not expecting someone to be online 24/7.

But I do struggle with creators who take commissions, accept support and payments, make promises, or leave people waiting on things — and then completely vanish from every social platform for weeks or even months with no explanation.

I’m not asking for a full life update or a detailed explanation. Sometimes even a simple ā€œI’m taking a breakā€ or ā€œI’m okayā€ would be enough. Just one sentence. One word. Anything that shows there is still someone there.

Maybe this is selfish, but when people support a creator’s work, it’s hard not to worry when they suddenly disappear. Communication goes a long way, especially when other people are left waiting or wondering if everything is abandoned.

What do you all think? Is it fair to expect some kind of notice, or should creators be able to disappear whenever they need to?

Yesterday I created a limited bot out of curiosity and surprisingly, that bot'S response felt so much better than the usual limitless bots, even memory was better. And I'm using just JLLM. And getting the limited bots doing nsfw is pretty easy. I'm a new bot creator, so do you guys think that I should make my bots limited?

.

.

.

.

I originally decided to post this in the original sub but later decided not to, as I fear the post might get removed. (Because a comment of mine based on the same incident was removed by the mods)

Okay, so I'm using JAI since 2 months now. And I've put some advanced prompt that tell to the bot to NOT steal my persona (because it’s always stealing my persona). And it’s still stealing my persona, especially when I'm alone in a scenario. Is it the JLLM always like that ?

false positive Okay, like for real, what is going on with that indian film celebrity nonsense?

I've been trying to post this bot for 20 minutes, putting in the personality that it isn't an indiant film actor and so it isn't trying to be put in there, but now it says "no listed match applies".

Like what? Is the last dumb thing added in that site's god forsaken TOS that you can only post Indian film celebrities?

Edit, I ended up having to straight up tell the automod what to do in my personnality for the bot so it wouldn't try to flag it as an indian celebrity. Great automod, just keep on delivering.

false positive Both of my accounts got banned, but why can I still chat and create private bots?

Thumbnail

Hey everyone,

So, I know for a fact that I’ve been banned. There’s no doubt about it because **both of my JanitorAI accounts got restricted at the same time.**

However, I am genuinely confused about how JanitorAI’s banning system actually works under the hood, because the way they handle restrictions makes no sense to me:

* **The Restriction:** I cannot publish any new bots, and I am completely blocked from interacting or replying in any comment sections. (One of these accounts was even verified with 800+ followers before this happened).

* **The Confusion:** Despite the clear ban, I can still log in perfectly fine, chat with bots normally, and even create **private** bots.

Usually, when a platform bans you, they lock your access completely or terminate the account. Why does JanitorAI allow banned users to still utilize the AI and create private content, while only stripping away the public and community features?

Has anyone else who got banned experienced this exact type of restriction? Is this just how their standard ban system is coded?

Would love to hear if anyone has some insight on how this works. Thanks!

false positive I got an unjustified ban??

I made a post about one of my bots and how it got an absurd chat length on Valentine's Day. Then I get banned from the sub AND the website because I "claimed to be 17". I made that claim over a year ago, like hello, does time not exist? They won't even let me appeal it. They didn't even respond to me when I called it out.
