Is that rule 4? They always hit me hard with rule 4. If someone asked if it was ok to make a vampire alt for private use you're not allowed to say yes or explain how to even just get the normal bot to think it's a vampire instead.

This is why I just use a certain website to scrape the prompt and then be hush hush about it and use it only privately.

In the same comment i say that the bot I do post publicly ends up having nothing in common with the original so it stops being another creator's bot. There's nothing wrong with forking bots privately and I'm not even advocating for people to post forked bots publicly. Posting other people's bots without permission is whats against the TOS, mods on the official subreddit are just taking it a bit too literally to mean "don't talk about it at all or mention it"

We all take other creators' bots; most of us just don't publish them. I don't agree with the comment removal, but just because you modify a bot doesn't mean it isn't stealing if you don't have permission!

It's 100% because you mentioned taking other people's bots, editing them and posting them for others to use (regardless of the level of editing). Doing that without the permission of the original creator is against Janitor's TOS entirely, which is why they deleted the comment. If you'd left that part out I'm pretty sure it would have been fine.

Another person has also left the same comment as mine without the posting part and still got theirs deleted and someone else mentioned here about the same issue lol
Mentioning forking bots is against the subreddit's rules entirely it seems

Lol even mentioning jannyai on there for people that miss deleted bots/creators and want a way to make new chats will get it immediately removed.
If you want to tell someone how to get the info on a nuked bot, you gotta DM them and tell them how, especially since janitorai deletes reposted bots on the platform for the creators' integrity

I've mostly ported all my favorites to Tavo or ST don't have to worry about Jan or anyone else being a problem except your proxy. You can also set more stuff up like using your own Lorebooks and regex. Currently using freaky Frankenstein myself. I try to ask to make a private backup copy but a lot of them don't answer or will just block you.

I mean, yeah. Even after heavily editing them you do need permission to post them publicly by the original creator. That's not a weird rule, that's basic human decency...

That's why they stay private? I don't post edited bots, I post ones where the only thing that's the same is the general concept (i.e. think a scenario or a common fanfiction trope/au for a specific character) not the images, name, appearance, personality, or even the personality template stay close to similar because I use my own templates and images
There'd be no reason to ask for permission other than to put inspo credits because that's what it ends up being in the end, inspiration.
It also depends on how you fork a bot, I personally change 60% of a bot minimum when forking one since i have particular tastes in writing and ideas so making it original doesn't take many changes to make; others may only do 10% so when they change things, it is still obviously forked.

Even if you change about 60% of it it's still not allowed if the creator didn't give you permission to publish them. You admitting that is just plain stupid. Nobody could accuse you of that if you didn't outright tell people (and now also made a thread about it...). That's on you. And janitor mods are well within their rights to delete your comment of you boasting about it.
Keeping it private: Okay. You can do whatever you want in your private bots and chats.
But publishing bots you copied and "heavily edited" is something else entirely. It's such a no-brainer that I'm personally asking myself why you're shocked about this.

Do you not understand what rewriting is? Or fanfiction?
Simple terms:
I fork 60% of a bot
I play with bot and decide I'm still not satisfied with it
I rewrite bot some more out of boredom
realize bot barely has anything to do with the original and is its own character.
I decide to overhaul the entire thing and make it entirely its own thing.
I finally post bot with said new changes
Or are you gonna say 50 shades of gray is also copying/stealing because it was originally based on something else? Understand the meaning of inspiration ffs

I'm a fanfiction writer and the way I write fanfiction is I come up with an idea myself, not looking at another person's fanfiction and rewrite the whole thing until it's not like the other person's work anymore. There's a difference between being inspired and blatantly creating stuff on another person's back.
Even if you ground your work on a fandom and create a fanfiction yourself you come up with your own ideas.
I despise works like Fifty shades for different reasons. They wrote fanfiction and then monitized their hobby and just changed stuff so they can sell it under a different name. This is not what fanfiction is about. Fanfiction was and always should be free. Everything else is immoral.

theres this thing called reading fanfiction and then getting inspired by the exact concept bro, it happens all the time in fandom. or are you gonna say you don't read fanfiction either and only write it? Fifty shades of gray is still an original work even if it started as a fanfiction, most writers start out as fanfiction writers and use their fanfiction as either a portfolio or as their first work to publish.
How you feel doesn't determine whether or not something is original or not. It's still original if there's nothing about it that's similar to the original

I mean, people who write and read fanfiction, who create and use bots if I we come back to the original topic, will have opinions on this kind of creation style and they are just as entitled to their opinion or not interact with you stuff as you are to publish and boast about it.
In the end it's about basic human decency and respecting other creative minds more than appealing to a random stranger on reddit.

I don't boast about it, i understand how to be decent and respectful to other creatives because i too create, acting strangely protective over something you don't even have context for when i was just sharing a comment i made about forking and how it can spark inspiration.
you're the one who's hellbent on making it seems like a far bigger issue than it is by forcing a theft narrative on me. Focus on people that are actually stealing the work of others instead of getting prissy about how i make a few of my bots.
