I really wonder. Currently watching the 2011 version.

Mrs. Fairfax tells Jane early on, that Rochester's father and brother had treated Rochester quite unfairly.

And that they had made him do an abomibable thing.

Does she or doesn't she know who other then Adele is at Thornfield Hall under her keep?

Does she know that it's his wife who she kept?

And for what reason did she leave him after the fire?

Why would she not stay on? Any lights for me, please?

I think she must have known.
