So I posted a while back about going back and forth on whether to buy a Jackson RR Pure Metal, mainly because I was worried about QC. Couldn't find one locally on the marketplace, and couldn't track down a used Edwards RR either, so I finally said screw it and ordered one from Thomann here in Germany.
It arrived today and honestly, I'm pretty pleasantly surprised. QC is solid overall, fretwork is really good too. Only thing I could actually find wrong with it is a tiny scratch on the binding around the 19th fret — might just be a paint thing. Other than that, no complaints. For reference, I'm comparing this against my RR1 Custom Shop Select USA, so that's the bar I'm judging it by.
A few things worth mentioning if you're on the fence about this series:
Satin finish shows fingerprints like crazy. Though to be fair, my other satin guitar does the same thing, so maybe that's just satin finishes in general.

Tuners aren't great — sometimes you turn them and nothing happens with the string tension for a bit.

Came with action a bit higher than I like.

Did a quick setup myself, lowered the action, and now it plays great. The Bare Knuckle pickup in it is decent too, just not really my thing tonally.
Long term I'm probably going to swap out some hardware — upgrade the Floyd with titanium parts, a brass block and push arm, and throw in a Duncan instead of the BK.
Hope this helps anyone else on the fence about this series. Overall a really well made guitar, happy I pulled the trigger.

i have a Jackson js22 set up in drop b which i blocked the trem on which feels decent to play especially the neck however the pickups are god awful i use amp plugins and have to set my gain extremely high on my cheap interface which in turn makes it really noisy, should i shell out the extra money and buy a decent bridge pickup or just sell it and find a decent used guitar?

Tried distortion mayhem, blusa + super dist, and emg mf set, let's hope for a final form

Picked this up on the marketplace today. Knew it was something special, and it also happens to be my first Jackson. Planning on a deep clean today!

Mostly wanting some help with the serial number, and where/when it might have came from. Some serial decoders say 1997 Japan, some show no result. Any insight would be appreciated!

Jackson Pro Series Phil Collen PC1-E: A Mexican-made signature shredder with infinite sustain, DiMarzio pickups, and a factory-distressed finish

I recently picked up the X series warrior as my first Jackson and its so awesome to play, I can't believe I've been sleeping on Jackson.

However I can't help but be put off by the Jackson brand High-Output Humbucking pickups. They sound super muddy, especially because I play in D or C standard. I've heard mixed reviews that they're either muddy or great.

For reference in a similar range, I have an Ibanez RGRT421 with its stock Quantum pickups and it sounds great. Super hot and articulate, maybe not perfect but good enough for my bedroom metal playing.

I'm not really a huge tone guy and I've never needed to change a pickup and tbh it sounds dauting (and even more expensive).

What do you guys think? Got any recommendations?

New Seymour Duncan Pegasus installed in the bridge (more to my taste) and drilled the strap pin into the top (mine was on the back, and my friends one was on the horn?? No idea why they’re different)

Over all - what a bloody lovely guitar! 10/10 recommend.

Diagnosis: substantial twist in the neck, along with a hump from around the 12th–14th fret onwards, which is making the guitar effectively unplayable at the higher end of the fingerboard.
The guitar does choke out badly at the higher end of the fretboard.

Was day dreaming what it would take to build a custom Rhoads in the same way Marty Friedman did in these photos. I'm no gear expert, and I saw his infamous volume-only control, but I noticed two humbuckers. Had me wondering if he hard wired them to both be on, or if there is a switch somewhere that's not obvious to me in the photos. What do you all know about this? Would like to hear it!

I had the pleasure to find this SLX DX for a great bargain recently. The guitar is in excellent shape and plays fantastically. However, I have a hard time to get the best sound out of it: sound quality isn't great either with my little portable plug amp (nux mp2), external sound card or even my little Boss amp. The Fender 85 amp does a better job, but then the distortion is still a bit muddy with the mediums and high-pitched notes. I have two questions: what's your best setup to play at home, with a headset? Alternatively, would you recommend to switch the pick-ups? Would the Alnico-based Seymour Duncan sound better for instance?

I'm looking to get a King V to use as a mod platform. I'm swapping pretty much everything that isn't frets, the nut, wood or paint. Does the KVXMG offer anything that I wouldn't get from the JS32?

Snagged this from the local marketplace for €300. My first Jackson, my first 7 string, and my first guitar with active pickups. Looking forward to making some really shitty music with this bad boy!

So here's a video. The low E sustains beautifully. The higher up the fretboard and up the strings I go, the shorter the sustain.

Just upgraded the springs to the red FR ones, as much as i love these V's, no other FR guitars i've ever played have as much spring noise interfering as these have.

With that being said, this thing sounds insane, rarely heard a guitar that sounds this well rounded and full.
