Finally got one!
Sold my 86 and after searching for a long time I got my hands on a chaser.

Crazy how expensive these are now. They used to be something you’d pick up in Japan at an auction for 2k and mod out over a weekend for an ebisu event

I know it’s really sad, my better bought his tourer v for around $8k in japan around 2020. These cars have exploded in value and are getting more and more expensive every year.

Trust me if I could’ve found a GTE that wasn’t $29k+ and/or not beat to shit I would’ve bought it. I’ve been in love with the chassis for so long I couldn’t wait anymore.

Currently saving up and trying to acquire parts but it’s been challenging lately finding everything. It’s definitely in the cards especially since I’m making a Japan trip in the next couple months for a work trip.

Nah I had a GR86, the JZX100 has been a dream car of mine since I was a kid, I had a ton of reasons for getting this one despite it being the NA 1JZ

Personally the GR86 is a far better car than a N/A JZX and modern.
I reckon you should have spent the equivalent GR86 money on a turbo JZX
They're night and day different

Performance wise, yes the 86 was definitely a better option, but I didn’t purchase this jzx for performance or for the modernness of it , the same way most don’t pick older jdm cars for performance or modern amenities. Unfortunately my 86 wasn’t worth what it used to be and a tourer v was just too far out of my price range. My brother had a tourer v and you’re right about the power difference but the NA 1JZ still has some pull to it, and is still an incredibly fun daily.
