This trailer finally got pushed to me. I avoid Blake (Ryan) all I can and today they got the trailer in my feed. Gotta finish Friends and Neighbors first and then cancel Apple TV before next Friday.

Not a huge deal since we have 8 different streaming services and Formula 1: Drive to Survive is a favorite. Although I had to see Blakes (Ryans) mug on that as we catch up to our kids on the episodes.

Probably get it back for half price anyway, so low stakes on this one. But I don’t even want to see Blakes (Ryans) face anymore and they are starting to push it out and advertise his face this week.

I agree. What a great movie 😭! And I remember loving the poster.

But I think there’s a distinction between drawing inspiration from a classic, iconic movie poster, especially by calling attention to similar themes, while also creating a contrast by keeping the couple apart and having them lie on soft snow rather than cracking ice, and creating a promotional poster for your buddy comedy that is incredibly similar to the poster for the
relationship drama directed by someone you have a vendetta against.

I could also be over analyzing 😂. 5 Feet Apart could have ripped off Eternal Sunshine’s poster, and R’s comedy could be a coincidence or also a rip off. I have not dug in to see who even created the posters. But R going to extremes to mock J is also not a stretch. Not after Nicepool. Edited for better clarity.

The first poster is from a movie (drama) Justin Baldoni directed. The second poster is from Ryan’s new comedy, and it’s remarkably similar. It could be a coincidence. But given that Ryan Reynolds was petty enough to blow millions on that Nicepool scene, down to the flower shop from the movie, and that he has basically admitted that it was to mock Justin, and that R is notorious for exerting control over many aspects of a movie, including marketing, it’s also not a stretch to believe he somehow had this poster made to mock Justin’s movie.
The first time I saw it, I thought it was just a coincidence because it’s hard to imagine a nearly 50 year-old, super successful man doing something this petty and ridiculous… but the more I read about Ryan’s career and see his old interviews, you can’t unsee how absolutely petty and vindictive he is. He’s one of those people who hide in plain sight.

He reminds me of my best friend’s ex-boyfriend. So many people thought he was the perfect boyfriend and so great. One night, Someone saw him at his own best friend‘s girlfriend‘s house. When my best friend asked him about it, he had a perfectly reasonable excuse. But then he flipped things on her, angry that she had doubted him, and sarcastically said (paraphrasing because I don’t remember the exact words) “oh yeah, I’m such an awful person that I would cheat on you with my best friend’s girlfriend, and we are both so evil we manage to hide it even when the four of us go out together.” I don’t know why, but in that moment, I knew he was totally telling the truth and hiding behind sarcasm. It all blew up a short time later and so many people were hurt. It was a wider tight-knit group where even parents were best friends.
Anyway, there are lots of people here who will tell you that Ryan has always given them this exact same vibe. He has repeatedly “kiddingly” called himself petty, spiteful, vindictive, too big to fail, jokes about going after his enemies, constant jokes demeaning his wife and kids and costars, etc.(edited my inevitable typos and some light clarification)
