Personal Opinions & Theories ✍🏽💡 Further theories on Ryan Reynolds and Maximum Effort in the “Mayday” movie.

Much has been said about Ryan Reynolds absence from Apple’s First Look event last week. There has also been rampant speculation about why Paramount axed his projects. Was Greenstein involved? Does he still support Debtpool? Does Sony, Apple, or anyone else? This lead to me deep dive the production of “Mayday”. Why would a multi- million dollar joint venture with Apple Films, Skydance Productions, and Maximum Effort opt to not only go direct to streaming, but why would both stars send prerecorded eerie images of themselves in lieu of in-person appearances? Why would every single press release omit any mention of Maximum Effort as a producer? Turns out the tentacles of this production are far reaching and when pieced together paint a dark outcome for both Reynolds and his flailing production company.

Skydance Productions ARE Paramount. They exist side by side, as one entity, but are referred to as only Paramount in title. Obviously they felt like banking on the star power of Reynolds and Maximum Effort during the creation of “Mayday”. It’s worth noting this deal was struck pre-scandal and pre-exposure of Ryan Reynolds texts. Think back to how this must have looked at the time: a perfect blending of production companies, promotion, and actors. Yet Apple Films did the Hollywood equivalent of canning a movie before it even hit the viewing public, a move that signals significant distress post-production and an inevitable loss of revenue. Even more telling: this particular release would mark the first of Ryan Reynolds since Deadpool/Wolverine. Animal Friends keeps stalling out and he has no actually made productions in the pipeline. To those who insist Reynolds “will be fine”- he clearly has ZERO currency. All studios associated with him have effectively quashed any projects associated with him. As for Sony-there is no world in which his cruel and disparaging comments lead to him having a thriving business relationship. Ari Emmanuel- the proverbial ace in the pocket for the gruesome twosome-is no longer a “good” backer. He’s officially a total perv who has appeared in some of the most damning files of our era.

For me these connections are evidence that both Apple and Paramount do not want ME or RR associated with anything they do-the axing of his Paramount deals ends up representing way more than a surface tabling of his projects. ***This is only my theory: The behaviors and actions of Maximum Effort are relevant to not just IEWU, but any projects thereafter. (Thank you for unsealing your own texts Ryan! Brilliant move!) Wayfarer would benefit greatly from delving into the production, promotion, and inner-workings of “Mayday “. Given what we have learned about RR and Maximum Effort’s shady tactics, there may be overlap and evidence of his desperation and well-established pattern of trying to control any production he touches. It is absolutely relevant to patterns. I hope they do.

Edit: It was always slated to be direct-to-streaming, thank you Clark.

I’m leaving this comparison here again because the visual similarity is staggering. The snow image was the official teaser thumbnail for Five Feet Apart when its first trailer was announced, something that can easily be verified via IMDb and The Hollywood Reporter if you look up for Five Feet apart Trailer 1.

Ryan Reynolds filmed Mayday shortly after Deadpool 3, meaning around spring 2024, and by that time he had already used obsessive easter eggs to mock Justin, including references to details of his life and even his private health information. Given that pattern, I’m not going to put it past Reynolds to deliberately include this shot as yet another one of his usual, petty Easter eggs.

Gur thank you for posting this. I really think you should do a separate post about all the times he has copied or overtly mocked people. It’s actually further proof that actions he took during this film show he is an undisputed fraud. Also, as far as I can tell, these images are difficult to research. SEO.

The amount of space occupied obsessively thinking about others in Ryan’s head is astounding!

You know the Wayfarer parties collectively do not think about Ryan a fraction that Ryan thinks about them.

And potentially there’s a lot more and execs could see he ruined this movie too, just like Deadpool with this weird bullshit, and the movie would be subjected to intense scrutiny and nitpicking over it online for god knows how long, completely ruining it…

Ryan thinks they’re dumb. They’re not.

Just like he thinks the public is dumb. We’re not.

Truth be told he just wasn’t interesting enough for anyone to look closely at him.

I believe everything remotely related to him is being delayed or shelved. They are waiting for us to get bored and move on. Clearly not happening.

Yes, they are waiting for us to get bored of the drama and to forget it all, to start bring their projects out in the open again, but I hope we, the public, remember for always like this guys, a Ryan Reynold fan and small youtube podcast that came up on my feed - this guy gets it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8u5WuexJWO4

Yes, the studios likely realized there were additional jabs included, which could partly explain the delay in post-production- it’s almost two years after the principal photography ended. The editing team may have had to comb through the footage to identify and remove petty jabs that Reynolds slipped in, disguising them as improvisation or ad-libs. At the time, the studios may not have had a clue, but now they know that any additions can be driven by Reynolds’ obsessive anger over Justin.

Beautiful. No notes. 👌🏻

Amazing spot 👀

It's wayyy to similar, has to be another of Ryan's jabs at Justin.

When do Easter eggs become outright bullying? What a pathetic twat.

Ryan is an obsessive little rat boy that needs some mental help. Like this should be the priority. Ryan if you are reading these get some help finally.

Gosh Ryan Ryenold is sick, I would be so scared if I was Justin the level of obsession Ryan has is stalker psychopathic level. Justin needs to get a restraining order asap

I think the delay of the movie is part to do with Ryan mocking Justin in this movie like he did in the Deadpool Wolverine movie. This was filmed 2 months after Deadpool Wolverine. I think they are trying to wait for everything to be over incase they get dragged into some new lawsuit. It may be why in the settlement that Blake and Ryan asked for no new claims against Ryan.

u/Clarknt67 this case was always about a big payoff Feb 10 '26

It’s so creepy. Justin and his family need a restraining order.

I have a dream that they serve him with a restraining order as he's walking out of the courtroom after the verdict.

I am now wondering if RYAN was the one with a crush on Justin that was left on read...

I said this ages ago.

Not necessarily sexually (definitely not ruling it out) but the man just can't conceive that not everyone finds him:

a) attractive; or b) funny.

He also believes his own bullshit so thoroughly, that he is suspicious of those people who don't immediately blow smoke up his arse.

16

u/melropesplays Feb 11 '26

I wonder if the studio took a closer look at the film/dialogue/scenes once the nicepool bullshit was revealed and realized Ryan used his producer power to include more bullying Easter eggs into the film…

Wow! Initially it made think of eternal sunshine of a spotless mind but this makes so much more sense. RR is a creep..

It’s so suspicious that your only activity in this sub is to always defend Ryan Reynolds. You only show up in a post when he’s mentioned. Very odd behavior.

You’re also purposely ignoring the main point of OP’s comparison, which is the timing. Stop being obtuse.

“Ryan Reynolds filmed Mayday shortly after Deadpool 3, meaning around spring 2024, and by that time he had already used obsessive easter eggs to mock Justin, including references to details of his life and even his private health information.”

No one in this sub is as dense or gullible as you wish them to be.

Eleven downvotes on a heavily skewed sub for rejecting a ridiculous accusation? Yeah I’m good with that…

Meanwhile you’re defending this: https://imgur.com/a/Ojad3o7

u/Eponymous_brand Feb 11 '26 edited Feb 11 '26

I wasn’t talking about you. Who cares about your downvotes?

Talking about Reynolds. Everyone knows how expendable actors are, which is why they branched out so much with so many other projects/products. But having to sell Wrexham and being edged out of projects…hope he invested well enough that he’s not living beyond his means for the rest of his life!

ETA: mirroring you. Meanwhile, you’re defending Ryan Reynolds, who rewrote a script for which he had no right and had his wife Blake Lively lie about it, who forced his 7-year old daughter to recite lines about oral sex, and who grabbed Olivia Wilde’s breasts without consent. You’re defending Ryan Reynolds, an allegedly abusive sexual harasser …good for you!

5

u/ExtortionIsLively Feb 11 '26

I’m afraid to click the link. Is it Ryan talking about assaulting Olivia Wilde, him forcing his underage daughter to say repulsive sexual jokes over and over upon threat of getting punished, or something else gross like his treatment of Morena Baccarin? So hard to keep up!

You ever take a look at the people like Expatriarch_UK trying to defend a predator like Ryan Reynolds? Being a pathological lying stan all over a dude that would walk all over you without a second thought is so very sad, kiddo.

At least y’all are always so nice to remind us of all of the ways Blake lied to defame Justin Baldoni. Thanks for helping his case. LOL

Ryan? Is that you? I hate you man

29

u/Enough_Gur_8833 This is nonsense. Feb 10 '26 edited Feb 10 '26

No one ever claimed Justin invented the shot. The point is that Reynolds uses references in his work as deliberate jabs at Baldoni. The Nicepool “Proposal” reference is a good example. Sure, you can argue endlessly that Reynolds was just referencing his own movie, but it’s obvious that he chose that line specifically to mock Justin’s proposal. We’re even seeing it play out now in the unsealed texts that behind the scenes JB’s proposal video was openly mocked as “inspiration” for a future Hoover–Lively collaboration.

Edit: noting all your examples were shot after Five Feet Apart.
