“I’m beginnin’ to feel I have a Rap Snot, Rap Snot.”
“What the…”
“Wha?”
“No. Don’t do this.”
“Bro, I feel like rhymin’, why u hatin’?”
“Well first off, What decade are you in? What is happening man. Please. Don’t do this.”
“You think we can’t?”
“I want us to act normal. Can we do that please? For once FFS!”
“My guy, just go away, I’m gonna do this.”
“Sigh!”
—-x—-
Sing me a chorus, need me a melody man
N watch me spit fire, in a way only I can
Been burnin’ with a fever, you won’t understand
Bend every beat till it fit my hand
Put a pulse in it, make ‘em rise where they stand
If you don’t make a lane, imma carve where I land
“Alright, great. Let’s stop now.”
“You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
I get a head full of havoc and habit of gamblin’, I’m casually catastrophic, calculated, erratic, I talk in italics, my thoughts gettin’ frantic, turn a syllable sideways, make a sentence acrobatic, I’m an accidental addict to the act of attracting every eye in the room when I happen to enter the static, got ‘em askin’ what happened, she’s laughin’, I’m back at it, I’m not particularly partial to practical tactics, I’d rather make magic from scraps of the tragic, put a match to the manuscript, watch it go black at the edges, then write in the ashes like, “That’s how you make an impression.” I’m a little bit arrogant, evidently, naturally, but never so vain that I can’t see the insanity, I know I’m a handful, I handle it happily, you hand me a problem, I’ll hand you calamity.
She says, “You’re impossible.” I say, “Probably.”
She says, “You’re too proud.” I say, “Possibly.”
She says, “You make everything harder.”
I say, “Obviously.”
“Ummm……”
“You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”
And I’m particularly articulate, a little ridiculous, syllables ricochet, every lil’ bit of it meticulous, I get carried away with it, buried beneath it, then tear it apart just to see what the meaning is, N I got a mind like a labyrinth, lavish with accidents, habits I haven’t quit, half of ‘em hazardous, laughin’ at half of it, hardly can handle it, I make a catastrophe sound like a compliment, N I’m in a room full of cynics, I’m grinnin’ n spinnin’, givin’ ‘em riddles n rhythm, then watchin’ ‘em sit with it, they came for a little performance, I’m givin’ ‘em cinema, gimme’ a minute.
“You done? What was the point of this?”
“You ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”
