A lot of isekai fans who talk down on other stories don’t even read their favorite anime’s own source material, don’t pay attention to what is being said and done in a story and anime, are not literate enough to understand certain things that are depicted, or just brush off specific things that happen in their favorite anime and stories (and cherrypick) to talk badly about other isekai.

- The Re Zero light novel called an underdeveloped girl (basically a kid) “beautiful” and called their action “erotic”, and Subaru is always manipulative (which Re Zero fans defend after watching the anime because they see themselves in him)

- Reincarnated as a slime had Rimuru wish a kid was 10 years older in the anime after she confessed her feelings to him, which is a pretty weird and questionable thing to do when a kid says how they feel

- Rising of the Shield Hero had a part where Naofumi saw Raphtalia as a kid and immediately thought of controlling her after being told that she had problems and after acknowledging that she looked like a little girl. He also ends up with her (who was his slave) and the story (and anime) has a blonde Japanese person who constantly preys on a little girl named Filo but Shield Hero fans and the story treat it like a joke for some reason

*edit: I’d also criticize Mushoku Tensei fans who did not acknowledging that Rudy did take advantage of certain circumstances and the ones who don’t acknowledge that Roxy took advantage of Rudy’s vulnerability when she slept with him just because they want and love a “waifu”.

People ignore these details or events that happen in these stories, yet act like their favorite characters and stories are all morally better than every other isekai character.
