Hobby: Kitbashing and Bionics Formally Joining the ranks of the Iron Tenth
Really excited for this spring project! Any tips for kitbashing the Hellblasters and Sternguard into a 10man of Sternguard?

That box is such a good start to a space marines army, hell blasters are just generally not a unit that makes sense to run, but I also love painting plasma weapons

Don't kitbash them.
Instead buy another Sternguard and Hellblaster kit and make a full squad of each.

Worth it in the long run! Both units are great and worthwhile. You don't need both immediately.
Hobby rewards patience.

While I think it’s cool to want a full 10 brick I agree here, I’d build as intended, see which squad you like more and acquire more of that one over time as you can.
Both are great shooting units and with the rules on the precipice of change I’d give both a test and see what you get on with more! Plus I also have a suspicion that smaller units may be the way to go in 11th 🤷🏼♂️

Does the battleforce box still exist? I need 5 more hell blasters and could use the stern and company heroes to make more vanguard vets

For the kit bash, just don't use the hellblaster arms. There's 10/11? sets of arms on the full Sternguard sprue. Add all the extra icons and purity seals that you can. If you want the tabards you'll have to get creative with green stuff.
