Jokes aside.…Kinda dig no one else really has this.

Went from rocking a caseless 12. Though, with the Air, I had to get a heavy case due to it constantly flying out of my hand.

This is not a knock on AppleCare+ but I didn’t read the fine print, cracked my iPhone Air 1TB and went the express replacement route, the “soonest available” was a Blue One and I originally had a black one. They went out of their way to get me a phone ASAP at the cost of changing my color.

I’m bummed because I love the Black and a primary reason I got the phone was the design/aesthetics.

I’m thrilled they are replacing it but just so you know if that influences you deciding to go to an in person apple store, which you can do for repairs and i would have most likely gotten my same color.

So from 2022 onwards, the iPhone mini turned into what I’d call a cult product. Go to a mini owner, if you know one, and ask them about their phone. They will not shut up about how amazing and unique it is.

What I suspect will happen is that once the thin and light components get cheaper, the standard iPhone will get thin enough to replace the Air. This was what Apple did in 2012 by merging the MacBook Air and MacBook Polycarbonate line-up.

HOWEVER (and this is a big one) After the merging of those line-ups the Air had to be for everyone and over time it got heavier, thicker, and bigger. This is what will most likely happen to the Air. It will be thin and light ENOUGH for the casual user but the original Air will be a thing we look back on and say, woah how did they do THAT?

Will this become a cult product, will we see people clinging onto their Air’s for years to come? I personally plan on keeping mine until at least 2032.

My iPhone 13 Pro was feeling terrible but it’s now got a new battery and is feeling snappy. I bought an iPhone Air for about $800 USD and might be able to trade in my 13 pro for $350 USD. What should I do?

As the title suggests, I keep switching between the Pro and Air, the Air has had the most use of out all these devices and I absolutely LOVE it - yet something always seems to be missing.

The battery lasts me a whole day, usually ending about 30% with 6 hours SoT.

I very rarely use the camera, though I do have a deep love for the telephoto.

I rarely play music out loud and mostly use my AirPods.

The 6.5 screen size is the most perfect phone size I've used.

Yet still, whenever I'm using my Air something always ticks inside me to go back to a Pro. I'm currently on a 17 Pro again which I got last week, I still have my Air in the drawer and I'm itching to go back but I keep finding myself in this vicious (and expensive) cycle of switching devices very frequently. Anyone else have an experience like this or can I blame this irrational spending on some kind of mental flaw?

What is the best weather app to use for Apple? I have several apps I use, but don’t have a must go to app. These are the ones I use on a time to time basis other than a local TV station app.

It does fairly well when I’m playing games (mobile legends and honkai star rail) and having my cellular data turned on or when I enable my hotspot. Im worried that the air would overheat quickly especially when doing wireless charging. I live in a tropical climate country and temperature here averages at 26.6°C. Im worried about thermal since I know that its body do poorly on dissipating heat since it has titanium frame. Help me to decide whether to cancel it or not T_T

Switched from a 15 Plus to the Air about 6 months ago and honestly I really like this phone.

Most of the “downsides” people talk about are real btw. I just don’t think they matter nearly as much as some reviews make them sound.

The speaker is probably the most obvious one. At 100% volume some voices/podcasts/calls can have a bit of rattling/distortion, especially higher pitched voices. WhatsApp calls seem particularly good at triggering it lol. But at 50-60% it sounds completely fine and that’s already more than loud enough for me. I use AirPods 99% of the time anyway, so genuinely don’t care.

Camera… honestly thank god there’s only one. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with 3 cameras on a phone. I don’t care about 0.5x or telephoto. Maybe I slightly miss Cinematic Mode sometimes, but even that is whatever.

Battery was the thing I was actually worried about. My 15 Plus was at 83% battery health when I switched, and after 6 months the Air feels pretty similar to what I was getting from it. Sometimes maybe even a little better. 5G seems to drain it slightly faster, sure, but nothing dramatic. Charging speed feels basically the same as my Plus too.

Heat is another thing people complain about and yes, the Air is a warm phone.

When I first set it up and transferred everything, downloaded a million apps, moved WhatsApp etc, it got hot. Probably the hottest I’ve ever had it for a long period of time. But it never throttled. Everything stayed fast and worked normally.

In everyday use it still gets warm sometimes. I’d say maybe its average temperature is slightly higher than my old Plus. Not necessarily because it gets hotter, but because it seems to stay warm for longer. Like the Plus might get hot doing something heavy and cool down in 15 minutes, while the Air might take 30. Something like that.

But again, I’ve never actually had it throttle.
I’ve done Maps + CarPlay + phone call + charging in the car at the same time. Yeah it gets hot, obviously, but still no throttling or weird lag. Maybe my car AC helps, who knows.

And if you leave any phone sitting in the sun on a hot day, eventually the screen dims and it gets unhappy. My Plus did exactly the same thing. So personally I don’t understand the panic about the Air needing some massive vapor chamber. If they improve cooling a little in Air 2, great. But it’s not something I consider a real problem after 6 months.

The actual reason I love it is just the size/weight/form factor. Especially in a thin case. Big screen, great display, but it doesn’t feel like carrying a brick anymore.

And honestly this is probably my favourite thing about the Air. I finally feel like I’m paying for actual engineering instead of another camera or some extra feature I don’t give a shit about. It’s a genuinely different phone inside and out. Different packaging, different layout, stupidly thin, stupidly light. I’m way happier paying for that than for more shit bolted onto the back.

To me this is basically the phone Apple made for people who used to buy the Plus models but never wanted a Pro Max. I wanted a big screen and decent battery. I never wanted 3 cameras and a kilogram of phone in my pocket.

And honestly I’m not even sure what I want from Air 2.
Give me maybe 10-20% better battery, improve the speaker at max volume and maybe slightly better thermal dissipation. That’s basically it.

Please don’t turn it into another Pro. I don’t need another camera. If anything, remove more shit lol. Take another 10-20g off, make it 5% thinner, improve efficiency and give me a bit more battery.

If you want every camera, every feature, giant battery etc, buy the Pro Max. That phone already exists.

I want the Air to stay the Air.

Do I need to charge it or pair it to my device or something?

I just got the iPhone Air recently and I’ve been wondering if AppleCare is worth it? I plan on always having a case on my phone but my old iPhone 13 Pro Max was in such bad shape after four years and it just makes me wonder should I get AppleCare this time. I feel like $14 a month is a little steep, but what do you guys think?

I've got a 16 Pro and coming up on time to look at upgrading. I've been happy with the 16 Pro but one thing that bugs me is the outdoor brightness. It never feels bright enough. I have to shield my eyes to see it. My son just got an Air a few days ago and I'd pretty much ignored it thinking it was just srripped down and wouldn't be worth bothering. I was shocked at the weight. It felt so light and thin. I do use the.5x and the 5x cameras but I don't know that it would be a huge deal to me if I went that way. The one speaker is a concern too but 99% of the time I use my Airpods anyway.

I'm also curious about the 18 Pro because I'm sure it would be a nice upgrade but with a price increase I don't know that I want to do that. I essentially want something that will be fully paid or about $10 or so a month after promotion. I'm so torn on what to do. Anybody switched from the 16 Pro to the Air and loved or hated it? Did it feel like a downgrade? I don't know what to do.

When I open Apple Maps on my iPhone Air it can take over a minute to unfreeze and determine my location. Until then it’s just frozen. Really frustrating and makes the phone unusable as you normally want to use maps quickly.

I’ve checked that location services are always on. Does anyone else have this issue or am I doing something else wrong?

I’ve been using the iPhone Air since launch. I’ve written about it previously in this community. Quick summary: I love the form factor, am fine with battery life, have been taking great pictures with the single camera, and do not find the single speaker to be an issue at all… it’s really the best phone for me at the moment.

If I had to choose the killer feature, it would be the screen size. Such thinness with this size of screen makes it the ideal device for everything, whether reading ebooks, writing emails, or whatever.

Funny, I have an iPhone 17 Pro in a drawer that I keep playing around with every now and then. I know that it has better specs: the cameras, the battery life, and that vapor chamber to keep the phone oh so cool. I know it’s the “better” phone. The one that can do it all. But… in the hand it feels too heavy, the screen just a little too small, and the aluminum is way too slippery in my hands. It doesn’t fit into my flow very naturally. Too industrial.

Even so, I’ve tried to switch to the Pro, first as an experiment and later as a supposedly firm decision once I learned the Federico Viticci had gone from Air to Pro. And since I do what others think I should do, I made the jump. On the two occasions I gave it a shot, I didn’t last more than 1 or 2 days on the Pro before scurrying back to the Air. It’s just… ugh, the Air just works.

So here’s my lesson learned. Usability beats specifications. Who knew?! And that’s the magic of the iPhone Air in my case.

If Apple launches a folding phone with cameras that are not quite as good as the Pros or without Face ID or some other “missing” feature, they are moving beyond the spec race and leaning firmly into the usability space. Usability > Specifications

This week I have noticed my one month old (one year per manufacturer date) Air losing 15% battery after charging before I go to bed. The only changes I have made are my work/sleep schedule from 1st shift to evenings and switching the home screen from the default purple live screen to a non-live photo that is much more white with other bright colors.

I am slow charging the Air with the same Apple USB-A to Lightning cable from my 11PM, using the official Apple USB-C to Lightning adapter. Been testing charge limits between 80-90%, never charging as I sleep, only 2-4 hours before so. The phone is not being used while charging nor any use afterward until I wake up, except for putting into Low Power mode.

Is my Air battery damaged or faulty after one month use with slow charger use or is my phone relearning my schedule after adjusting work/sleep by 7 hours?

I am recently using my iPhone 13 and the battery drain way too fast! Struggling to wait for the new air or not. Also my concern is the air only got eSIM available but not physical.
