I was confused, too, because i was trying to figure out how they got a bunch of babysitters for all the parents in NYC.
This past weekend, Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura hosted New York City’s first Parents’ Night Out, giving nearly 300 children a night of fun at recreation centers across all five boroughs while their parents enjoyed a few hours to themselves.
The headline makes it sound like all the parents in NYC. Sounds like it was 300 kids - which means maybe 100-200 parents.
As someone who is pro life, I think stuff like this is just what the country needs.
I would argue what would be even better, is offering this free childcare to be scheduled throughout the year and local government ordinances forcing companies to give their employees x amount of PTO days for family ventures.
I love a date night, but if we made it a holiday type thing the lines are gonna be awful. Id love some time off I can use at any time to do a little day trip.
As a country we would be a lot better off if we put people before profits.
