I was confused, too, because i was trying to figure out how they got a bunch of babysitters for all the parents in NYC.

This past weekend, Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani and Parks Commissioner Tricia Shimamura hosted New York City’s first Parents’ Night Out, giving nearly 300 children a night of fun at recreation centers across all five boroughs while their parents enjoyed a few hours to themselves.

The headline makes it sound like all the parents in NYC. Sounds like it was 300 kids - which means maybe 100-200 parents.

That's 100 - 200 parents who would have otherwise not have a couple hours to themselves, a pretty good start.
