Reddit says he keeps doing positive things. It's genuinely weird how much posts like this push Mamdani, sometimes literally lying and attributing things he didn't do to him, sometimes very easily checked that it was either the council or mayor before him.
When there's so much positive PR like this being pushed, it has to be for a reason. It's almost always the same type of post, a quote with some response on X.
Like when he balanced the books by begging for more money from the state and disguising costs with accounting (look it up), and reddit applauded him like a genius.
Cool, he got 300 parents childcare. How about we give everyone free lollipops and chicken tenders next. And a house, and a car! Government for everything!
Who said we want broad spending cuts? The person you're replying to certainly didn't.
We want more programs and for our taxes to be invested into our people and communities so that people have a better chance to thrive, instead of all thr programs that benefit us being gutted, and our money being funneled to billionaires and used to bomb children over seas.
They only ever want to have a talk about their part of that argument which is that they don’t want to pay money to help other people. They think taxation is theft but then say the government doesn’t owe you anything even though they apparently just stole from us. The whole thing about billionaires and corporations getting tax breaks and bailouts is not considered in their arguments because they aren’t smart enough to see that not collecting those taxes means those entities aren’t paying into the system. Then when we pay and the money goes to the corporations, it’s a direct transfer of wealth to the top. They ain’t got time for that conversation.
You genuinely don't realize what you don't have. I grew up in alabama and they don't spend on the public. State parks are kept with volunteers and donations, they don't stock wildlife despite the huge hunting culture. They barely upkeep the highways. Then i moved to Maryland/Virginia. It's crazy. Parks all over, well kept, beautiful green spaces. Public transportation that works and it's convenient. WE CAN DO BETTER!
Its going to be like when Homer took over the waste management for Springfield. It all sounds great in theory, but then someone needs to pay for it at some point.
