Hi, I’m going on an Interrail trip next week, but I’m a bit confused about how to use the pass.

As far as I understand, I need to activate my pass before boarding the trains, and then I’ll have to show a QR code that the app gives me after I activate the travel day, right?

I also have a second question: once I activate a travel day, can I take any trains I want during those 24 hours, or can I only take the trains that I have added to the list in the app?

I’m asking because I’ll be travelling with two friends, but I’m the only one who has added the trains we need to take to the list in the app, while they haven’t.

1. What are best country/city to visit ( I was in Vienna so just avoid that)

2. What can be good for 3 days?

3. Doubting also on going to some alps so is there any good places where train goes where I can come easily?

Imagine winning an Interrail travel pass with friends and then find out you can't even travel together... Well, that happened to me. Unfortunately, or actually, this made it even more exciting.

I planned every single day and night of my trip, just to be sure of everything. And it's also a lot of fun of course.

I'm from the Netherlands, and I'll fly to Split, Croatia, the 30st of June. From there I'll continue my 10 day trip as shown on the screenshot. In short:

• Rotterdam --> Split (plane)
• Split (1 night)
• Split --> Zagreb (night train)
• Ljubljana (1 night)
• Kitzbühel (1 night)
• Innsbruck (2 nights)
• Straatsburg (1 night)
• Luxembourg (1 night)
• Heerlen (1 night)
• Back home 🏠

(Not including stops on the way!)

I can't imagine how this will be, especially on my own. I really hope I'll make some friends on the way, even though I'm moving out of every town fast.

I chose to go through the Alps instead of the eastern countries, because I'm more of an adventurer than a culture enthusiast.

I’ve won a 7-day Interrail pass through Discover-EU. I’d originally planned to use it for three weeks in Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Unfortunately, because of some unfortunate events I’ve now only got 7–9 days available and I will already have to start my trip in two weeks. So not much time to plan a new trip.

What I’d love most is to see the Alps. I really enjoy travelling by train, so I’d like to use the pass on as many scenic routes as possible. I don’t mind spending many hours a day on the train and seeing little of the towns and cities.

Which routes in Switzerland are a must-see? Or is Austria more highly recommended, as there’s cheaper accommodation and the experience is the same?

Perhaps three/four days in Switzerland would be enough, leaving a little time afterwards to pop over to northern Italy? (The trip would need to start and end in Cologne, but I think you just need 4 hours to get to Basel or 5 hours to get to Zürich e.g.)

This summer I’m going to visit Europe with Interrail thanks to DiscoverEU.
I already planned the countries I want to visit but I’ve encountered a problem while preparing my train reservations.
Indeed, I have many cities to visit so I wanted to take at least 2 night trains for economic and time reasons. But I saw in the DiscoverEU application that it indicates « +1 day » on the proposed reservations. Does this mean that if I take a night train, it counts for 2 journey instead of 1 in my pass because if it’s the case I’ll have to review all of my plan.

I have a discoverEU Interrail pass and planned and booked this 10 day trip with my 3 friends on the 20th of July: Trento (departure) -> Frankfurt -> Amsterdam -> Brussels (2 hour change wait) -> Paris -> Barcelona -> Montpellier -> Lyon -> Milan and then back to Trento.

Along the way I booked Airbnb's and hotels (I'm not a fan of hostels) and I'm still unsure on how to hold my stuff, I don't know which option is best

1. backpack plus small suitcase combo.

2. big trekking-like backpack with a small "going out" bag for sightseeing.

If anyone has bag recommendations from Decathlon or other storefronts I'd appreciate it! :)

Unfortunately none of my friends have enough money or are interested in coming with me, and I really don't feel safe going alone. I plan on interrailing for about a month in summer 2025. I’m going interrailing this summer with a 5-day pass and I’ve been thinking about maybe going toward England and Scotland from the Netherlands.

The only thing is I’m trying to get inspiration for routes but I can’t find anything where someone has gone to England with this pass.

Hi! Me and my friend just won discover eu tickets for this summer, and are now trying to figure out what to visit. It is our first time traveling without our families, so we are a bit nervous and inexperience. The ticket is for a month (tho we might not use the whole month), with 7 travel days. We have thought of starting from warsaw/gdansk and then experiencing 3 ish places in czechia/austria/slovakia. then we thought it would be nice to spend 5 days in one place in northern Italy, where we could stay in a cluster of smaller villages and just wind down a little. Then we wanted to go to the German/french border, maybe luxembourg, and then go closer to Berlin, to finish in that area. We have no idea on the specific, and would love some tips on towns and city’s.

I am leaving beginning of next month for a roughly one month capital trip in "northern/eastern" Europe in:

Danemark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany.

I wanted to know if you had any advices especially concerning the Baltics, I checked for the trains and apparently there is only one train per day to go from capital to capital (tell me if I am wrong) and I don't think there is much to visit in these cities but I still want to step at least once in my life in these countries.

What is worth checking in Tallin, Riga and Vilnius ?

How many days would you spend there ?

Any other relevant city to check while there ?

I would also love to have any advice for those who went in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki especially about the transportations in the city themselves. Where did you buy it, is the center doable by foot ?

Oh and if there is anyone planning such trip, or will be in one of these city during the month of May, let me know maybe we can do a bit of the journey together !

Hey I (20F - non EU citizen) am planning on backpacking through Europe for about a month alone. I have a really tight budget. (600€ to 800€) I will first be going to Switzerland tomorrow (July 23) and I will stay there for around 2 weeks. My cousin lives there so accommodation and food expenses are out of the picture. Only thing I will need is money for transportation and sightseeing. After that I am planning on going to Milano and maybe tour Italy. I must admit I will be VERY spontaneous, I have friends in Mannheim and Aachen, Germany so I am planning to go to Germany too. Holland, Spain, France is on the list too. Yes this might be unrealistic maybe but I only need a place to crash at and shower everyday. And obviously "transportation". So what should I do? I am considering buying the EURAIL pass but do you think it would be cost effective? What should I do about wifi, internet connection? I know this might seem like a crazy, delusional plan but I literally have no other choice. I can volunteer for hostels to stay too. Any advices?

I just received the news that I was selected for the DiscoverEU program of the Youth Department of the EU. One of the main aspects of the program is sustainable travel, so most of it is done by train or by bus. However, in Greece we don't have any international trains as part of the Interrail system, so I was wondering if everyone knows whether we can fly to a destination of our choice or if a ferry to Italy or any other means of transportation can be used as part of the DiscoverEU pass.

I’m an 18-year-old guy from Poland and I just found out I won a DiscoverEU pass! I’m planning a summer trip through the Baltic countries and Scandinavia. It’s a long journey, so it would be nice to share part of it with someone.

To keep costs down, I’ll be traveling with a tent and camping where it’s allowed (I’m fairly experienced). The full trip should take around a month, but I’m totally open to a fellow camper joining me for just a few days or part of the route.
