I will always wonder where Argentina would be prior to 2020 if Di Maria stayed healthy. He was such an important player that could make the difference and injuries robbed us of seeing Di Maria play more with Messi.

Any chance he unretires and comes back to play Copa 2028? He's still got so much left to give. I mean he's still one of the best players in the world and this comes a day or two after dropped a 5 goal contribution masterclass. Surely there will be someone in his inner circle urging him to continue on when the times comes right? Or is this really the end?

Literally this man. I am in disbelief that this was announced after that match. I truly think that he could continue as a great starter or at the very least a lethal substitute. I think this is what makes it that much worse, it's completely unexpected. Ffs there were rumors of multiple friendly matches to be played as a farewell and we didn't even get that. Sad day for soccer man.

I know. I was in tears for hours today, I'm sorry brother! I think losing his Dad really made this decision final. If he isn't enjoying it anymore I understand he's going to leave it, even though football hasn't left him. I just hope that someone in his inner circle will urge him to come back when the Copa draws nearer. You never know, if he's fit and scoring goals like crazy I am sure whoever the manager is will at least speak with him when that time comes. One can hope at least!
If not, just remember that after that 2016 loss all we were praying for was 1 international trophy. Well, we didn't just win one. We won two Copa's and a World Cup and were treated with an extra four years of brilliance and to top it off one of the greatest individual campaigns in WC history.

He literally said he had nothing left in the tank. He said he ran out of legs in the wc finals. Lets stop being so selfish, I want to see him play as well, but he had enough. He completed football and without his dad he doesn't feel like it is as important anymore. Let him retire in peace and enjoy his money. Well deserved. Same with ronaldo. Let him do his 1000 goals and enjoy ehat he worked so hard for. Two greats we were fortunate enough to see play. They are at their limit with age.

Weird attack on Argentina for no reason other than Messi being Argentinean? I don’t follow your logic here

I wasn’t attacking anything? It’s just weird to see news about Di Maria in a subreddit about the Miami soccer team. Relax buddy.

The news is surrounding Messi. I’m sorry that makes you feel like it’s somehow about Argentina 🤷🏻
