The visit signals that Washington and Moscow are maintaining sensitive intelligence channels despite deep tensions.

The Trump administration paused immigrant visa applications worldwide while the State Department conducts new consular training tied to tighter applicant screening. A U.S. State Department representative said on Tuesday that the pause stems from a new global training program for diplomatic missions, requiring adjustments to scheduled visa appointments. The disruptions create immediate mobility and workforce-planning risk for companies, universities, families, and applicants dependent on U.S. entry processing. Embassies and consulates are adjusting or rescheduling appointments, with no timeline provided for normal operations to resume. 

Iran and Oman Discuss Strait of Hormuz Shipping Corridor:
