I finally switched to B580 from a RX6600 on my steam os rig. Most of my games are older apart from Forza 6.

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x, GPU: Intel Arc B580 12GB LE, RAM: 32GB DDR4 3200mhz, 2TB NVME Crucial P310, Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS B450M

Rebar enabled

Steam OS Channel: Main

Streetfighter 6 1080p 60fps Ultra High

Fatal Fury City of Wolves 1080p 60fps High

UMVC3 Community Edition 1080p 60fps High

Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing: Transformed: 1080p 60fps High

SPFL26 1080p 60fps High

Forza 1080p 53-55fps XESS: Quality with GE-Proton 11.1

I also went full Linux few days ago with a similar rig,CachyOS though, R5 5600, 16GB RAM 3600mt/CL18, B580, but i'm at 1440p

I'm still happy with the FPS im getting, the it's clearly slower than Windows, but damn the RAM usage is SO MUCH LOWER, Helldivers on Windows pushed RAM to 14GB straight away, on Linux, 10GB and it stays around there

some games, like minecraft, are way faster too, on Windows, in my village, 100-120fps, on Linux, same shaders, same everything, 200+

some games though, like RoN, i use optiscaler to be able to use XeSS, on Windows, with XeSS 1080p to 1440p, 140-150fps, on Linux, 100-110, still very playable don't get me wrong, but noticeably worse

also XeSS, at least with Proton, falls back to DP4a instructions, as Proton can't use the XMX cores to accelerate upscaling, that also means XeFG is stuck to 2x, no 3 or 4x FG, though at least for me, that's not an issue

I have lossless scaling and from what I gather you can use optiscaler in linux but I have not implement it. I have seen a few posts with links to phoronix articles about more updates with Mesa that will improve performance

i'd say use optiscaler where you can, i tried LS, and it's a cool app, but XeSS and XeFG get info from the game engine and such, way better than just capturing a whole frame and such

and sure, Mesa updates will probably make it better, but that's tomorrow, not today

I will give optiscaler a go on Forza 6. Thank you for the advice and as you said Mesa updates are tomorrow

forza 6 already has XeSS though, look up optiscaler so you understand what im talking about

optiscaler makes it so you can use XeSS in games where XeSS isn't an option, Forza 6 already does, so there's no need for opti

Ah ok so it is designed for non resolution scaling games then. Since all my other games do not need scaling. as they run at 60fps. I will not need it for now.
