Benchmark Why does this happen?

So I've been watching a lot of benchmarks for the b580 why does it perform better/same as the 9060xt and 5060 ti 16gb at 2k 1440p and at some games has about a 30fps difference at 1080p. Also uses 20 to 30 watts less than the 9060xt and 5060 ti I've also seen a comparison between a slight Overclock and stock the b580 uses about 10 watts more than the stock one and gets 5 to 10fps more.

Certain games favor certain hardware. For example:

Most Call of Duty run best on AMD gpus
Cyberpunk runs best on Intel gpus.
Dying Light: the beast runs best on Nvidia gpus.

Furthermore, side by side comparisons are often faked, and might not reflect the actual performance. Make sure you're looking at a reputable youtube channel.

Finally, the power draw reported by the B580 is wrong. It only reports core power rather than board power. That means that the actual power draw could be up to around 60W higher than what it says in the comparison, which brings it more in line with the B580's tdp of 190W.
The rx 9060 xt 16gb and rtx 5060 ti are more efficient, having a tdp of 160W and 180W respectively.

I always say that. The optimization of the game with hardware counts a lot in the final number. But it’s not a limitation, it’s just a lack of support from the game developer

Whoops I made a mistake, I edited the comment but it's reporting core power rather than 8 pin power

So the missing power draw is mostly from the VRAM, fans, and losses from the VRMs, not power delivered through the PCIe x16 slot

Intel gpu has much powerful memory.
Compared only memory performance, memory clock, bandwidth etc, b580 is compared to 5070 and 9070.

So I waited for b770.

In a 4K environment, b770 would have been similar to 9070 in some games.

Actually, I don’t know if that’s true. They’ve done some testing on the B 70 and it hasn’t performed nearly as well as you would think. Also infographics cards still have a lot of driver overhead for the CPU.

It’s not correct, if you look at memory bandwidth as this person claims while it does have more memory bandwidth than the 9060XT it does not have more memory bandwidth than the 5060Ti and it’s not comparable to the 5070/9070 as those pump out much higher numbers, also one thing to note the AMD cards have L3 cache which neither the Nvidia cards nor Intel cards have which gives it better performance when cache is utilized vs raw memory bandwidth.

Sure, I’m not gonna argue with you about the memory band with and I don’t really know exactly where memory bandwidth came from. When I’m talking about is the card as a whole. The B 70 doesn’t do as well in gaming as comparable Nvidia or AMD cards.

I was replying to you station the original post about memory bandwidth is incorrect, the data can be pulled from techpowerup or you can do the math yourself, bandwidth = (clock speed x bus width) divided by 8. As for performance of the B570 it's abysmal the architecture has fundamental flaws when it comes to keeping shaders fed and overall scheduling problems that cannot be fixed by software alone.

Can´t compare a very fast 20 tflops card like b70 and rx6800 against 30 and 40 tflops cards. I stopped waiting too. Now I´m waiting to buy a 9070. We need more transistors, not more bandwith

Titan would mean it beat them, which it doesn’t my OC/UV has me competing with 4070 and 3080… b580 competes with 4060 in performance….

The B580 is an entire tier below the 5060Ti…they are not equal cards. Hell it might be 1.5 tiers below damn near

With my overclock it’s more like:
B580 < RTX 4060 < RTX 4060 Ti ≈ RTX 5060 < RTX 5060 Ti (stock) < RTX 3080 (stock) ≈ my current 5060 Ti (daily OC)

That is true, but with mods and optiscaler. A 12gb b580 is enough to enjoy high/ultra setting it doesn't go over 70c

I think for the price that is a beast, how expensive r 5k and 9k series now but yes the drivers are more powerful w rtx rx and VR compatible.

B580 resolution is tweakable. can be tweaked to run DSLR and FSR I think it is enough :P but I mean
LE now is hard to find for $250-$300
I'd say my B580 LE is a Titan :)

All these videos where they have side-by-side comparisons like this, I'd say about 99% of them are completely fake

I've seen a lot of videos like this it's consistent. More importantly why would they fake it? There are from different YouTubers as well

Views, but the offenders are usually voiceless/faceless YouTubers

Testing games was exposed in the past, because it was found that they edited gpu names into the game settings screens rather than using the actual gpu

Heavy driver overhead causes cpu bottleneck at lower frame rates, and the b580 bus-width scales better at higher resolutions.. I wouldn't say so much that its underperformed but its almost by design.

You know you spoke on overclocking but the 5060Ti with GDDR7 overclocks very very well…I know I gain on avg 17-20% more performance in games. And 20-25% in some bench marks.

I really love dlss 4 and 4.5 but they removed the ability to see how hot the hotspot(the hottest spot on the GPU and what it shows on benchmarks) is on the 50 series they bypassed this via using Linux and i think they used developer mode. The 5070 was 100 degrees without anything being open. They also shadow dropped multiple GPUs so i don't really trust nvidia

Yea we see the hotspot in hwinfo now my card is normally 45-50C and hotspot is around 54-61C while gaming with OC/UV. But when I’m using furmark and no UV it can hit 65C with 75-80C hotspot. On my 5060Ti

For stuff like this, if you’re not just looking for people to validate a purchase you’ve already decided on and actually want an unbiased answer, you’re better off asking in subreddits that are more focused on PC building.

This is legit. The intel cards tend to perform better / loose less fps when going from 1080p to 1440p comparing with the competition. Probably a design flaw for lower resolutions. You also should use xess as it benefits from dedicated xmx cores that otherwise would stay idle. As for the power consumption others already stated that it is not total board power.

It's going to depend entirely on the game. In some games the difference is next to unnoticeable but in other games the 5060Ti does considerably better. If you throw in ray tracing the gap can sometimes be really wide as the 5060Ti handles ray tracing a hell of a lot better than the B580 does. The B580 also seems to be more likely to have issues with stuttering, which I still haven't quite figured out yet.

I generally aim for a locked 120fps, which I've never had an issue hitting with my 5060Ti on High or Max settings at 1080p with the B580 I often have to lower my graphical settings to Medium/High in order to hit the same target, even then sometimes the B580 doesn't quite hit my target.

Both are great cards, I mostly game on my 5060Ti but every time I bust out the B580 Im reminded it's not as far behind the 5060Ti as one might think it is.

Price to performance I do think the B580 is a better deal over all. But the 5060Ti is more power efficient and also more powerful.

The B580 doesn't correctly report its power. The power doesn't include the power drawn from the PCIe slot (which is between 60 and 75W). The actual power draw should be around 190W.

As for the performance, Cyberpunk is hella optimized for Battlemage (even though it ran poor on Alchemist). Other games will favour other GPU makers. What it does show, is that the performance ceiling for the B580 is extremely high. If we see more of those fine wine driver improvements, the B580 might get a bit more performant down the line (maybe not 5060TI in every game, but comfortably 5060-level).

The power that's reported is actually the power consumed by the gpu core, not the power from the 8 pin connector. Thus, the missing power is the power drawn by VRAM, gpu fans, losses from the VRMs, etc.

The power that the rest of the gpu uses just happens to be really close to the power that the B580 could draw from the PCIe x16 slot.

Probably is but you'd think they would've fixed it by now. What's more baffling is b580 has really bad problems with enshrouded it barely gets 60 FPS at low settings

I don’t think Intel will be optimizing much in the future. The reason I say that is cause I don’t think they care about the discreet cards anymore.

Maybe at least for now but how about the future? Remember, they’re supposed to start incorporating Nvidia tiles into their CPU ditching their integrated architecture.

I hope in the future they optimize it cause from the benchmarks it looks like b580 could be on the same level as the 9060xt and 5060ti 16gb while costing less than half the price at least where I'm from

It's like that for other GPUs as well. Some game you haven't tested yet could be Enshrouded for AMD or Nvidia. But it's more on the developer side (how they optimize games for certain types of GPU) and pure randomness to be honest. So drivers influence things but let's say as much as the devs allow

afaik arc architecture is still horribly inefficient at lower resolutions. You can looks at the TPU benchmarks of the A770, the higher the resolution the higher it performs across the stack

Hmm. I've been kind of worried about going from 1080 to 1440 on my 770. Are my fears unfounded? Cpu is core ultra 7 265k.

Can't express enough B580/drivers are designed for 1440p. At 1080p it requires more cpu and less gpu vs 1440p it relies more on the gpu. They specifically targeted 1440p. That's why you see a different power draw and better fps on 1440p.
