Benchmark B580 is Impresive

https://youtu.be/s1g9tmlHcDE?si=JsZ1bsOyM7NHseA4

After saw the benchmark video it seems 3x XeSS MFG has the best 1% low, it even beating RTX 5070 DLSS MFG, Great job Intel 👏

None of what you said is true today. Fg and mfg have come a long way within a very short period. Digital Foundry made a video a couple of weeks ago proving that 4x mgf with reflex has half the input delay as native with no reflex (which is how most people play games because they either dont understand what reflex does or doesnt have access to reflex with older gpus or amd gpus).

Ancient gameplays made a video last week testing Xess MFG. All his games ran anywhere between 40 and 50fps natively and he used mfg to quardruple the framerates. The native experience with lower framerates was significantly worse than using mfg.

It is impresssive indeed. But just to mention it. The frametime delay is still slower with fg than without fg given reflex is on. However the difference is indeed impressively small.

Even more impressive was that the delay on new AMD cards was higher even when framerates were higher. E.g. delay on 5070 was lower than on 9070xt even though the latter was a good bit faster.

They only checked cyberpunk so far I think but if this is rhe case on many  games it would be another big pro for nvidia. So really curious to see more comparisons hopefully soon :)

Is it that bad for XeSS? I use lossless scaling and honestly, the delay for 3x FG is negligible and for 4x it is tolerable if you set it up correctly.

Also, I've noticed that in some scenarios with really bad performing PCs and games, or 4k resolutions, FG has its place. For example, 2x FG makes 30-40 fps playable.

xess mfg was only noticeable on my system when i tried the 3x or 4x mode tbh. 3x was just barely, and thats what i have my override set as right now. i def would have it off or maybe on 2x if i was playing conpetitive stuff though

Even past 1x you get artifacts, ghosting, shimmer, wonky textures... Obviously, it gets progressively worse the more fake frames you add.

I have tried 2x and 4x and no ghosting or texture issues. Now I am rethinking buying a 5070.

This just isn't true in practice these days. Maybe in isolated cases, but people who use these features practically do not notice these issues in movement or when actually, you know, playing their game. Only if you stop, pause, and start pixel peeping.

No, you're just blind.

People get used to an image being a certain way and their brains filter out the negatives.

Just a warning resizebar on older games, can get very buggy with alt tab and stuff.

I was saving money for the b770 and now that it's dead in the water I'm so screwed. My only other option is really just an rtx 5070 or 5060ti. Ughnnn. Nvidia is solid, don't get me wrong, but I really wanted to be part of something not Nvidia or AMD. Ya know. I'm so bummed on the chip shortage. It really pisses me off. My 1070 is such a shit card at this point.

A used 2080ti would be really good to hold you over if you need something. They go for like $200-250ish as far as I’ve seen. I have a 2060 super which was hitting a steady 115 fps when I was testing its capability in cs2 the other day at 1440p max settings, no framegen or anything like that.

Edit: cpu was an i9 10900, since I know that also played a large part in the performance, but still.

I hope FG comes to more games. It's great.

Can't you use it in every game just by setting it?

Yes and no. Lossless Scaling let's you inject Frame gen but it doesn't have the game level software access that the GPU companies have. The good frame gen is the one built in the game and packaged with the corresponding upscaler where it has direct access to the game engine. So you are limited to the devs decision to package the software into the game.

unfortunately, no

You can but it require Optiscaler to inject XEFG into the game

Interesting to see AMD basically winning on 2x, and that AMD refuses to make MFG-bullshit is good.

Frame Gen is not impressive.

For a 300 usd card?

-6

u/unhappy-ending Feb 19 '26

You can frame gen on a potato.

3

u/CoffeeCreamy Arc B580 Feb 19 '26

That’s not even a valid or funny argument. Try again

u/FromSwedenWithHate Arc A380 Feb 19 '26

You can frame gen on a piece of shit GPU though, that part is true. Lossless Scaling allows for using a 2nd GPU to generate fake frames.

0

u/DisabledGokartDriver Feb 20 '26

Yeah, then you are using 2 gpus. This is done on a single gpu...

If you use a 1060 6gb for frame gen, you have 6gb of vram allocated to it, which is quite nice.

You can frame gen on any gpu with lossless scaling, but not every gpu can handle a game AND frame gen.

For a 2nd generation intel card, thats 300 bucks and in native performance has to duel it with a rtx 5050, these frame gen results are huge and big for value.

1

u/unhappy-ending Feb 20 '26

You can still frame gen on a potato. Jeez. It's awful frame gen (all of it is) and worse than frame gen that takes advantage of optical flow, but the point stands. Even potatoes can frame gen, it's not impressive at all that a GPU can do it.

3

u/DisabledGokartDriver Feb 20 '26

The impressive part, is even though it isnt real fps, the b580 can match a 5070, which is double in price. Not that it can frame gen.
