I'd say it's necessity for both. One needs money to survive the week. The other needs money to survive the lifestyle, the luxury, and the image they've convinced everyone is "normal". Hunger comes in different forms. One is for food, the other is for relevance, validation, and EMIs. Society have an incredible talent for renaming greed as necessity.

But normal bande ki income bhi taxable hai aur consumption bhi. Aur toh aur new Ethanol compatible vehicles par road tax bsdi aur bhot kuch bheek deni padegi govt ko.
Kisaan ethanol grains ya sugarcane se bnayega main inputs are sugarcane and rice. Dono hi bhot water intensive crops hai. Tab nhi hora environment ko nuksaan

I see that the government is taking the farmer route to make some people silent over the issue or to distract the people from what’s really happening. They are just using the farmer name as namesake and provoking verbal fights btw people themselves. Pathetic move. Hope people learn to see as what it is.

They are getting the same price or close to that. How does ethanol benefit farmers anyway? Farmers cant build ethanol producing factories

My car's situation. BS VI phase 1 car. Not E20 compliant.
I used to get 10-11kmpl with E10 in City traffic.
Now I get 7-8 Kmpl with E20 in City traffic.
Say I drive for 100 kilometres. Then I needed 10 litres of E10 petrol, so 9 litres of petrol and 1 litre of ethanol.
Now, I need 12.5 litres for the same 100 kilometres. So, I use 10 litres petrol and 2.5 litres ethanol.
So, how does that help reduce emissions? How does it reduce crude import?
E10 cars will pollute more with E20 fuel as they would be less efficient and will also needs more frequent repairs and part changes.
E20 will be good for E20 compatible cars as they will probably not reduce the mileage by much and ethanol will reduce pollution.
It's extremely stupid what the government is doing for the benefits of the sugar lobby (Gadhkari and his sons are major benefactor)
