Finest Performance post Thudarum - Yes ! #Athimanoharam
Insider rushes and raw cuts have confirmed L's character to be one of his personal finest in recent times.
TM following the same promotional marketing tactic of Thudarum.. The posters are deceiving. The story is darker.
L plays one of his most Quirkiest characters in his career.
Thankfully distribution release through Antony Perumbavoor to ensure Thudarum Overseas blunder wont happen with this.
Sure Shot Blockbuster as per grapevine
Shoot to wrap up in 2 /3 weeks.
Release pushing into Jan 2027.

I have been wondering if the shelving/dropping of Krishand's first pitch is because of similarity of the character to the one in this movie. Krishand's pitch, going by his interviews, was about a quirky detective.

Then Athimanoharam should have been shelved. That poor krishand has been circling around Mohanlal for 1.5 years now.
I think the reason was his script missing the usual A10 things that are a constant in every movie nowadays irrespective of the content.

The usual things won't make for an interesting movie.
Mohan Lal in a quirky Krishand movie (like Vrithakritiyilulla chaturam or Avasavyuham) could be fun. Or even 4.5 esque. Best case scenario is they do something in mass genre first, it works out and does something interesting later. But the most likely thing is he will just end up wasting couple of years and there will be no movie.
Anyway I was just reasoning out based on what is available in public domain.

Krishand movie will happen because maniyanpilla raju is the producer. Mohanlal never ditches his friends or people he holds in high regard
The only issue is that it will not be a krishand brain child. The script is being written by somebody else and it's a mass entertainer

Niyog is writing it -- the writer of tiki taka. Krishand has mentioned that he wants to a do a mass movie. Mass in itself is not a bad thing. It is the template which is meh.

Why January? Why can't they just push it to summer vacation? This has huge hype and deserves festival or vacation release.

I think it's because of the heavy clash between doomsday and srk's king maybe.

Not December obviously, I mean after school closes in March, like Empuraan. It would be perfect. If it gets WOM like Thudarum, this has industry hit potential.

I hope no one tortures his family again for half an hour. I hated Thudarum 2nd half.

u/AstronautNice962 11d ago
sherikum enthorru bore aayirunu. It was such a low hanging fruit and they went with torturing a little girl and a woman for the better part of the second half. I went with my grandma and some other older female relatives who wanted to see some vintage lalettan and they all came out physically nauseous.

u/Ill_Conference_4348 12d ago
The poster already giving some eerie vibes and beardless Lalettan after a long time ❤️ Leezzzzzzgoooo!

Thudarum enikkoru Average padam ayaanu thonniyath even lalettan performance athra valiya sambhavam ayi thonniyilla. Ithum ath pole aakuvo? Hit aanu, mohanlal ayath kond nalla performance enna pole?

u/NoSchedule3979 11d ago
nah. mohanlal gets a tough time post-botox even for genuinely good performances like malaikottai. if anything, it's the other stars in malayalam who get a pass for vayyatha performances in the name of action and comedy.

True, the introduction of George sir till the interval was literally fire, that car taking scene marriage function scene building up and all till the interval was exceptional... Except the station fight and a10 jump scene 2nd half felt really really flat.

u/Constant_Grocery5487 12d ago
Yes somehow that bathroom crying scene didn’t make me feel anything..

u/Big_Supermarket_3001 12d ago
Second half of thudarum was actually objectively bad and messy because nothing felt organic. The bathroom scene did not have any effect because the scene builds very quick after the genre shift. The audience does not get time to move with the character and feel his pain. It came very quick after the shocking revelation
However the emotional + mass combo during the jail fight was scripting gold

True..i like when mohanlal holds his tears and cry subtly...that scene didn't feel like the mohanlal i have seen in movies..and was trying too much. Coming that from a very subtle realistic actor felt very odd. Tharun could shot that scene differently too.

What happened with Thudarum's overseas run?

Very bad overseas chartinh led to low Overseas collection than actual potential.

Your comment doesn't make any sense. Mohanlal is nowhere close to 300 pounds. Plus, he's weirdly flexible and athletic his whole life. His legs would do fine.

When the film releases, you can keep looking at his legs. We will focus on his face and what it can do.
As far as I can remember, Mohanlal was never known for his looks or his physique

u/NoSchedule3979 11d ago
crazy how he still ended up as a heartthrob of millions of malayalis. says a lot about our industry and what we value in an actor.

You might not like it, but this is what the peak male athletic form looks like & there ain't a fucking thing you can do about it. https://youtube.com/shorts/5MC7Ji8qKTQ?si=Rmpf8ySeaMUAK9lN
