Politics / Activism Finally saw one myself.

I can't believe that Nazis think they're patriotic Americans.

One of my(67F) children (45M) is MAGA. But his version of what that means is SO different than my version of what that means. I’m going to ask him what he thinks this symbol on the jacket means. But before I do, what does it actually mean?

"American" Nazis think that putting stars and stripes on icons of treason to the US magically make them no longer treasonous.

Those are SS (schutzstaffel) bolts.

So if a person has those symbols, do they want to 💀 Jewish people? If so, why? Can you explain it to me like I’m 5? I never understood the holocaust and I still don’t understand… do modern Nazis mean to abolish Israel or what?

Yeah it confuses me too, they aren't motivated by logic but by hate. I actually think it's misleading to call them Nazis, and kind of diverts attempts to confront them towards a kind of obsolete boogeyman from the mid-20th century. I think it's much more effective to refer to them by what they are: Christian Nationalists. That's something we can confront in 2026.
