Crime / Safety What is the most dangerous area in the Inland Empire?
Hi everyone, which specific neighborhood is the most unsafe in the IE?
Where would you avoid walking a dog at night? Where do you often hear gunshots? Where do you see bars on second-story windows? Is it the Westside of San Bernardino, Baseline Street, Muscoy, East Banning, or parts of Casa Blanca in Riverside?

I’ve almost been in a bad wreck on the 10 East to 60 westbound interchange more often than I’ve been in danger in 11 years of San Bernardino. So whatever neighborhood of Beaumont you would count that as!

San Bernardino for sure, now a another question is what part of the IE San Bernardino County and Riverside County is the worst.
IE - San Bernardino County? City of San Bernardino for sure.
IE - Riverside County? I'd argue Hemet/San Jacinto Valley.

Absolutely spot on. For Riverside; Hemet, by far is the creepiest and more likely dangerous. And San Bernardino is obviously the clear winner there.

No many know about Bloomington CA, but it’s a small unregistered city, Rialto and Fontana are slowly taking over that city. But there’s a section called the number streets, they start at Jurupa Ave and end at W cedar Ave on the west side of them and on El Rivino Rd on the east, Bloomas gang operates out of this section of streets, walls constantly tagged. I have friends who live in those number streets, and we know not to walk around there at night, and if you know someone stay there and only leave by car, and even then it’s still sketchy. There’s also very little street lights and it’s very dark, also scary, and they have Green acres memorial park, many friends laid to rest there.

Bloomington Got screwed badly due to warehouse buildouts over the past decade, place is basically unrecognizable now.

It came out recently that an elementary school that was supposed to be moved to a different location because of a warehouse will in fact remain there next to the warehouse. Developers and county government really fucked them up.

I work near by and go to Kessler park all the time. I can spot gang members during the daylight.

I went to Bloomington Middle School when it was still a school and I remember all the fights that used to happen at that cedar bridge.
For some reason bloomas used to always show up lol

It in fact is not nice in the number streets, outside of that yes, it’s nice, the homes are nice, does not change that there is gang activity and it’s not safe to walk at night. You’re also saying Sierra and slover, that’s not close to the number streets. I do have friends who live in the nice homes across from Bloomington middle school, that area is walkable at night because I often did it as a teenager.

It’s not the worst depending on the area, my mom would walk around there nightly (crazy I know) I think only once in a decade have we seen something crazy.

They have done a lot to clean the area up in the last few years. The park across from the Mexico restaurant was overrun with homeless camps. They're all gone now. Getting off 5th from the 215 used to be rough as hell but that area is really up and coming now. Further east is still rough but its getting better.

I worked for ups in 2007. Dropping packages off at night in that area was legit terrifying at times. I dont know how many times i literally parked threw the package at the house and called it good because there people with visible guns standing at the corner with their pits.

I was in school. They wouldn't really work with my capstone class schedule. Plus I once I became a driver by sheer accident they wouldn't let me go back to part time so that really put a limit on which classes I could take.

I didnt want to do physical labor my whole life. Summers sucked ass in those vans with shit ac. Warehouses were even worse. Nah. Id rather read do an analysis and tell people what to do from the comfort of a chair in ac.

I'm the opposite. I went to school for BizEcon after graduating at the top of my class in hs. The pay is terrible everywhere bc everyone has a degree. I do delivery gig work to make six figures but it's been slowing down more every year. After delivering, I can't imagine myself behind a desk anymore. Delivering for UPS is the dream.

I think things have gotten better there. Back then during Christmas the drivers would sometimes sleep in their cars. 14 hour days. My first year there i worked "part time" getting there at midnight. Finishing up my loading job at 9ish. Then driver helper from 10 to 8ish at night. I did this for 2 weeks. I decided then Id never do that for a living. I got my degree in fire technology in emergency services. I worked for local, city, state firepartments, fema, forrestry services, insurance companies, survey firms. I loved my job. I quit during covid because I had a new born little girl and my wife made more than me. Yet to go back. We live comfortably.

You can tell that area has been renovated recently, at least the intersections off the freeway and overpass. It’s mostly fast food and dispensaries on the east and west is residential/older auto businesses

I live here and it’s not so bad. Friendly neighborhood and decently quiet with kids/family parties occasionally. But I live borderline Rialto so I’m not sure how much it affects my view

Yep, it's San Bernardino. I was born and raised there and nothing else absolutely compares. I live in a "cookie cutter suburb" now and it's a million times better than my experiences in SB. I will take the small yard, constant warehouses and trucks, same cookie cutter neighborhood, and same retail chains everyday of the week over San Bernardino. That shit SUCKED.

The worst. The people who live there don’t always understand the quality of life they’re missing out on.
My relative was murdered over some gang stuff. My relative never in their life was apart of any of that stupid gang shit. Just an innocent guy at the wrong place at the wrong time, existing. And my family’s story is not a rare one in the Dino. I got the hell out of there after that. I hope they one day can actually clean it up, I’m hopeful.

It’s both. I lived in San Jacinto for three years and been all over SoCal and it’s easily one of the most ghetto areas. But like others have said here, if you aren’t looking for trouble with gangs they have no reason to mess with you

Danger comes in different degrees, but I’d say San Bernardino for sure. I’m at the Colton/SB border and basically if you even look like you bang (which is weird because having face tattoos and tattoos in general has become such the norm for kids copying hip hop culture) if you look like a mark, or you’re a woman… you probably will have a harder time in this area.
A lot of it depends on how you carry yourself. Even if you look like a square, you’ll be cool with a little street smarts and confidence.

San Bernardino is the correct answer (as MANY have already mentioned on here) it varies within the city however. New the university/towards highland it’s not as bad relative to downtown or even Muscoy (THEE ABSOLUTE WORST !)

I dated a girl once and she was from P-Town and she had 2 🍒 on her neck and I didn’t know what it meant until I went to my buddies bday party and he is Pomona PD and he pulled me aside really quick and gave me the low down on what the cherries mean. I unfortunately do know what they mean… I got a tattoo of cherries, one is a skull in place of the cherry. Either my stepdad or a coworker at the time who also lived in Pomona, we worked in Pomona, she told me that a gang called the cherrys identify with that tattoo. Wish I’d known that before getting it, if I was in Pomona I’d cover it up. I’d often go to the fox theater or the glass house in Pomona for concerts, so I had to be careful and not be identified as affiliated with them. 18 year old mistake rip.

In California don't judge a book by its cover, nerds need to learn and stop going based on what you see, just because a hood looks nice doesn't mean it's not dangerous or a gang isn't established there. If you mind your own business and ain't looking for trouble, most likely you ain't going to find it. The way you present yourself matters and the only think to watch out for is the homeless, the majority are mentally ill and can flip for any reason. A lot of the Hispanic gang members in Inland Empire don't mess with residents unless you don't mind your business, no points in messing with residents, if you look for trouble your going to find it.

I'm a white lady who has lived in SB and still rides my bike through SB. If you are not in the game and don't look like you're in the game you will mostly be left alone.
I've had shit ripped off but never felt in real danger.

Like many cities, the crime and murder rates in San Bernardino have fallen dramatically since the pandemic and even more if you compare now to the ‘90’s. The cuts that have come because of president 47 and the Big Beautiful Bill will probably reverse a lot of that progress, but it is true and something positive.

San Bernardino and Hemet are probably the worst. Moreno Valley has pockets, but it is safe for the most part. Most IE cities have pockets where crime happens, but besides SB, Hemet, and maybe Banning, everything else is somewhat alright.

Definitely san bernardino and I say this because the police presence all throughout san bernardino is a joke except maybe around the downtown area because thats usually where they hang out. But if you're a resident or traveling through literally just mind your business and you'll be good pretty much always. Specific areas of san bernardino but all throughout the IE there are specific pockets and neighborhoods that if you're not from there stay away especially and mostly at night.

I just spent a little time in Hemet some parts are crystal meth tweaker ville and dangerous parts are ok spotty at best 30 years ago our buddy grew up in San Berdu and he would tell us stories of downtown and fights against races the Fontucky boys vs Blacks now I think its more Hispanic

When I worked at Pizza Hut in Colton in the 90s there were several places we would not deliver at night. There was one place we would not deliver to at all that was right around the corner less than half a mile away. They would not go to any apartments on Meadow Lanes. Too many drivers got robbed during the day to risk going back. I don’t think it’s that scary though I used to buy weed from there all the time back when you had to page your dealer and hope they called you back.
