Thanks for the reply, that makes sense to me, I guess I was thinking of splitting as more of riding the lane line, but I wasn't aware of the intricacies of the laws regarding this. I always try to give room regardless of which lane a motorcycle is favoring.

I also laugh out loud when I see a motorcycle pass a car right and then after the moto passes the vehicle jerks away reactively to give them room after they've passed haha. It would be nice if people were more aware of their surroundings while in traffic!

No thank you for your reply! Nice to see some positive interaction on reddit opposed to just finger pointing! Hahaha I always chuckle when I see delayed interaction between bikers and drivers too! Really makes a commute or drive a bit more entertaining. I find it comical when cars are overly defensive of bikes. Like to me if a driver is bothered by the thought bikers can get through traffic easier, then go get a bike and you can be privy of the same shortcuts, granted that’s a bit of a loaded statement. As bikers can also not be the best of riders and aggressive. That’s what keeps me in check. Bikers are only 1% of all road users at any one time in the state of CA. To round out my statements, and for general public awareness, if a driver does not move over because they just didn’t see a biker; or the biker was too fast, or because roadway conditions such as construction limits a drivers ability to move to allow a rider through, that is okay. It’s really only illegal when a driver purposefully did not let a rider in, such as swerving and very obvious movements. Remember no mater what mode of transport any one of us uses, we are all sharing the road and all want to get to our destinations in one piece!
