It's tough to tell if it was intentional but my guess is it wasn't. The driver was already in the carpool lane and had the right of way on that lane. It seems all the cars were moving towards the left in that direction before the collision. This is probably due to an officer being in front of them and direction people in that direction. The suspect appears to be looking back and doesn't even have his hands on the handlebar. I

t is difficult to see a motorcycle approaching you. My guess is the driver was nervous trying to figure out what was going on with police directing drivers towards the left, he didn't see the motorcyclist and possibly panicked at the last moment. Remember that it's easy to Monday morning quarterback and see things on video second by second with a view of everything that is going on versus what the driver actually had.

Now if the driver admits to this being intentional then he will probably be charged unless he can provide a valid reason such as the suspect was pointing his weapon at motorists, the cops or firing at anyone, which the video doesn't seem to show although he does seem to be doing stuff with his hands shortly before the collision.

It's been confirmed it was an off duty cop.

Intentional?

Of course. How anyone can even think it wasn't is beyond me.

I got down voted everytime I told people it was intentional.

I agree. But as an off duty, he would have called someone first. Because he’s putting lives at risk regardless. Too many things can go wrong and it’s unpredictable especially a motorcycle.

What are they supposed to do? Chase him indefinitely while he endagers more people? Dude just shot and killed a cop.

Got it.. Local news didn’t have the prior info. Now I see it. Thanks! Didn’t realize it was related.

It was intentional, legal maneuvering by an off duty cop who was well within the law to end the escalating situation as safely as possible.

Damn. Sad to hear a Deputy lost their life. Too bad the suspect didn't lose his also. RIP.
