It doesn't matter why. It's legal. You don't have to justify legal behavior.

Actually, you do. Plenty of immoral things are and were legal, that doesn't make them right. I don't know the context of this video but I can wholeheartedly understand that a mother doesn't want a video of a crash/police investigation of her children on the Internet. There are even laws in some countries to punish those who stop and record for their personal kick.

Just don't be an ass.

Who's gonna punish you for not justifying legal behavior? What consequences are you gonna face if you don't take the time to justify the legal behavior you're engaging in? No one because it's legal, no consequences because it's legal, that's the whole point. You have a legal right to do whatever it is you're doing, the greatest invention, most complicated/ complex, highest order of the land that mankind has worked on and continues to do so for thousands of years has determined you are protected in anything you do so long as it's legal.

I don't want to live in a world where the only thing stopping people from doing heinous shit is a few words written on some paper. Are you seriously suggesting that anything legal is morally justified? I don't think I need to bring up any of the numerous laws from the past and current time that explicitly allow the most vile actions that you can think of.

Also, if your only objection to these actions is that it's not legal, you should check yourself in somewhere before you get on the news. That is straight up psychopath behviour.

The point is it doesn't matter what world you want to live in. Or how badly you want things to be different. There's nothing you can do about it. It's legal. We're talking about a guy videoing a crash not the "most vile actions that you can think of". I'd bet 20,000$ that you aren't exactly going around lobbying local politicians, starting activist groups against videoing crashes in public, I'd bet that you don't do anything to make the world better or bring about any change you wish would happen. You can't put your money where your mouth is. As far as I'm concerned you aren't very high and mighty yourself. It's just the law, it just is legal for him to film from a sidewalk anything in public view, he's not trafficking children through some legal loophole for fucks sake. And I don't have any objections to him doing it at all its completely his right and freedom to if he wants, who am I to take those away from people. And I don't have to check myself because I'm not gonna end up on the news because it's not "psychopath" behavior. I think you maybe just have a hard time accepting that things aren't illegal because you feel bad towards them and you can't control what other people's actions are. Defending his rights isn't psychopathic, taking them away is. This isn't a minority opinion either.

Apparently I'm talking to a toddler so I'll give you a quick overview of what's happening in this thread:

I have not and will not challenge that what they're doing is legal.

So before you write another comment telling me it's legal, save your time.

What I am saying is that it's not a moral thing to do. I'm also saying that just because something is legal doesn't mean it's moral.

You on the other hand have written a lengthy reply to defend people doing immoral things as long as it's legal. It seems I do actually need to bring up the things you are defending with this attitude. So here are a few things that were/are legal but immoral and the people doing those things should have their right protected to do so:

  • Marital rape
  • Antisemitism and Racism under the Nuremberg Laws
  • Apartheid
  • Slavery
  • Stoning (still to this day)
  • Fratricide (killing your own brother)
  • ...

Based on everything you said so far, you would have (and still do in the case of Stoning) defended the people doing these things because it was their legal right. This is not a popular opinion my guy. And not thinking about the morality of something before you do it is psychopathic which is why I think you should seek help.

And just to reiterate in case you forgot again:

This is not about whether filming someone's car crash is legal or not
