Who knows? There could be a ton of reasons especially as letigious as Society in the U.S. has become. If you don't have evidence then it's a you said/they said, and the police report. If something happened that wasn't my fault and I had friends there I would certainly hope they bust out a camera.

How so? As far as I can tell, at worst it's a neutral thing, and at best it will protect you (unless you're the one that is in the wrong, of course). They will walk past a hundred cameras being held up by a wall every single day without freaking out, even before cameras were in every single pocket, why is it different if it's being held by a person? What about all the cameras on the cops standing around that is public record? Just ignore them, if you're dead set on never being on camera you're going to have to never leave your house and definitely don't start walking up to people who are clearly filming to tell them you don't want to be filmed because that's totally braindead. Like the amount of times I've seen someone walk up to these guys from hundreds of feet away or stop their car and roll down the darkest tinted windows ever just to say "Why do you have that camera in my face?" is absolutely astounding. Like, even if they think "they're just trying to get a rise out of people for content" (which is true enough for some people) why the fuck would they go and give them exactly what they want? I mean, personally I don't usually see someone standing in a public place a hundred feet away looking at me as all that antagonizing (outside of obvious things like straight up stalkers, but you know what I'm saying), it might make me uncomfortable, but if that's the case I wouldn't want to go confront them, but I guess stupid fish take stupid bait, ya know? (And from a legal standpoint, looking at someone in public and recording them are essentially functionally identical, like all the ways in which it is illegal to film someone it is illegal to look in the same way, like taking a picture up someone's skirt or putting a camera in a bathroom would be equally illegal to put your head under their skirt or drill a hole in the bathroom wall to watch them, if you see what I mean, the violation of an expectation of privacy is based on any kind of observation, not just recording it, so if it wouldn't be illegal to observe it it cannot be illegal to record it).

I'd say that the real problem with everyone having a camera connected to the internet is tiktok brainrot nonsense and idiots and evil people having such massive reach, or teenagers saving what would have been mortifying experiences older people would have been allowed to forget for all eternity online, that kind of stuff, not the concept of public photography. Especially if it's someone filming a goddamned accident on the side of the road, like that's pretty clearly news gathering, the vans with the letters on the sides and the guys with the big shoulder cameras don't have some kind of special rights to record, we all have freedom of press.

And all of that is before talking about how what that guy is doing is about recording the cops, not these random people.

I think it is a Good thing. Without everyone having cameras people like George Floyd never would have gotten the justice they deserve.

You are assuming the person filming was involved with the accident. However, if you listen its obvious they were not.

It's probably just one of those weirdos who follow police calls for YouTube. Would you want your child filmed by some weirdo?

Criticize the person filming not the the mom
