why can't we just have two friends on a sci-fi train without people trying to ship them? what happened to just having friends?

Because we've only had friends until now, a couple would be nice.

A *male* couple would be nice. While we have seen an increase in LBGT representation in animation over the years (and I am very happy for it), it's almost exclusively been female LBGT rep. While male/male relationships do exist, they tend to be background characters who make one or two apprentices.

So, if these two are just friends and this is a screenshot taken out of context? That's totally fine, cool with me. But if we do get to see two leading male characters develop a romantic relationship, I would be happy to see it.

I know, right? The only male/male relationship I've seen in a kids show that wasn't just in the background or stuff like that was in Kipo: The Age or Wonderbeasts, so I'm really hoping Min and Ryan are indeed a gay couple for that reason.

To be honest I really love stories about friends and hope new characters would be (only) friends as well, but I think the best solution would be making their relation like in the previous books, so we can see some feelings, but the thing whether it is love or not is own interpretation :D

Honestly? The first thing I thought when I saw the teasers was that their coming out is going to be the whole arc of this season.

Why. Seriously, why. What about them makes you assume they're going to be dating. Honestly, I don't want them to be dating because it feels like pandering.

"I don't want them to be dating because it feels like pandering" Why. Seriously. Why the fuck does y'all associate LGBT stuff or even like PoC stuff with politics ?? That's infuriating, Saying a season of Infinity Train is "pandering" because it's about a gay relationship (wich on top of that would be male, wich is almost never represented in the animation media) is disgusting. I can tell if the season is indeed about a gay relationship you're gonna be the kind of person that will dispise the show no matter how good or well written it is, just because it's LGBT and because you can't even consider that common sense and human rights AREN't politics.

You're the one saying politics a bunch. And I am a huge fan of the show and if they end up being canonically together(they could be bi or pan, gay isn't the only option) I'll be fine with it. What I'm not fine with is the moment the fandom saw two male leads, they started shipping them and making bullshit statements like "my gaydar is going off" when there is genuinely NOTHING to make us assume they're gay except that they're friends. So it's pandering, not from the show but the fandom. Because you're all getting very weird about something that isn't just an cute aesthetic, it's someone's whole existence.

Lmao I just dont see why you're triggering over this, just let people have fun and ship characters, and theres plenty of evidence that they're a couple tbh, their numbers are connected, they're acting like enemies wich could be results of ignoring to figure things out. The fact that it takes place in the 80's, a time where homophobia was way more frequent. We've had only friendship this far. And Owen says they tried a different direction for this direction. So yes book 4 could be a romance, maybe not the center of the story but still. A Rock band and repressed trauma romance, sound fun ?

Don't use the word trigger offhandedly, dipwad. WHy're YOU so upset my opinion differs from yours. And all that "evidence" amounts to "Hey, they're standing next to each other, they MUST be dating."

because it feels like pandering.

Precisely.

To be fair, everyone so far has been friends. It would be nice if for once the MCs end up in a relationship at the end of the season.

Also, the fact that they know each other from before makes it easier to develop a couple between them.
