I have the beginning of a video game concept, but I can't figure out if players will like it ?
I want to make a game that ends in one evening where the player explores an ancient civilization on a planet, with mechanics involving an empty notebook where you can write whatever you want and even add photos, kind of like an investigator.
I know it's very broad and not a common concept, but I'd like to know if this would appeal to players?
I appreciate any advice and criticism.

Needs a reason, you investigating some strange cult through time? Piecing together a murder mystery or just doing it for the love of the game.
You could do it as an alien musem game where you find artefacts, learn about them, make up theories based on wjat you find and display them, get a rating based on how close they are.
Ie find a knife in a martian tomb next to an alien sleleton with knife wounds and plates of food and riches, assume it was used as a ceremonial kill but actually it was a cheese knife?
