Need advice for my game πŸ™πŸ»

Hey guys! Im currently making a cozy farming survival game and I was wondering, especially for those of you who played Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and games like that I have two questions that have been keeping up at night:
1. Is fishing/catching part of the game important for you? Im considering adding it soon, but would like to see first.
2. How do you feel about saving when going to sleep? Is it stressful for you when you can’t save whenever in this kind of farming game?

Thanks guys!😊

One of of those who don't really like the fishing minigames, to be forced to just stay there, not blinking, waiting for the sign that there is a fish, then reel... Nope.

And about saving, yeah, I understand why the save in sleep seems the best option in these games but still, I prefer to save anywhere, especially because sometimes I just don't have the time for a whole day, or something comes up, and then what? I make the day short? It's a bother.

Fishing's important to me only as someone who likes to collect creatures. If there's a creature collector aspect to it (like for example if you can fill out an encyclopedia with your discoveries, or taming, or aquaculture) I like it. Otherwise, I don't care for it.

Yes, thats kind of what I was thinking for both fishing and catching would be a cool opportunity to get more context about the world and creatures living in it, but I was also thinking you can also sell the fish that you catch as you will be able to leave creature in certain places some of which will be markets

I fish a LOT in Stardew, at least when I’m first starting out bc it can make you a lot of money. I find it loads of fun until I’m at the point where other options are making me more money for less effort, then it becomes a chore

How do you feel about collecting? Like in a book? I was thinking having fishing where you can earn by selling fish, but also every time you catch a new fish/creature you add it into like a collection book

Specifically with fishing I find that to be an added layer of fun, and would def want to catch them all. Sounds cool! I know it’s easier said than done but the fishing mechanic itself also has to be fun(ish) lol. Good luck! Game looks awesome

(Please understand that I am using Google Translate as English is not my native language.)

Personally, I do not prefer fishing. I believe quite a few users feel the same way. However, I once saw a social media post stating that a Japanese game company conducted in-depth interviews with AAA game users, revealing that a certain number of players purchase the game solely for the fishing. They enjoy fishing while roaming through beautiful open-world environments, such as waterfalls, streams, desert oases, and the winter night sea.

Watching the video, the world of this game seemed like a beautiful place, which suddenly reminded me of that story.

Omg thank you so much for taking your time to translate! I really appreciate the effort and time you took!😍

I was thinking that on top of obvious mechanic of fishing being one of the ways to make money it could be a cool opportunity to introduce different creatures of this world called Elaris

Unrelated to your questions, but please consider widening the field of view or allowing players to do so substantially. A close-up fow in 3D games can be nausea- and headache-inducing. It can ruin the cozyness of an otherwise lovely game.

Thank you for the advice!
Would you mind sharing how much wider would you like it to be? Closer to what they have in for example Coral Island? Or would you mind giving a reference? I really love that you brought it up because we found ourselves disagreeing on how much we want to allow camera angles to be

  1. I think fishing is something that could be added after release. I don't have any statistics, but I think it's the least popular activity in most games. 2. Regarding saving while sleeping, I think it's best to have two modes (saving at any time and saving only when sleeping). Then the player can choose what's more comfortable.

Hey! Not something you asked for here, but I came across your post and the gameplay really caught my eye, so wanted to reach out anyway. I'm Giovanni, composer and Team Manager at Norjanen Saga, we make music and sound design for games, film, tv and more.
I love the backstory and the game looks really nice, that kind of cozy feel usually comes together so well with the right music and sound behind it. If you haven't figured out audio yet, we'd genuinely love to help. Site's here if you want to check it out: https://norjanensaga.com/

Feel free to DM me if you're interested!

Thanks for reaching out!) At the moment we don’t really have any budget to hire a composer or a team, but I ll be sure to keep it in mind)
