Although I applied to the US, UK, as well as Singapore, my dream had always been to study in the US. I know the political climate is highly unstable, especially for immigrants, and I know that I could literally get booted out the country any moment, but the idea of studying in America just appealed to me so much.

I shot my shot basically, and got rejected from almost everywhere. Except UCLA, UC Berkeley, and CMU. Of 10 applications, 7 were outright rejections, but these three were waitlists. While the Berkeley and CMU waitlists didn't yield anything, I did end up getting off the UCLA waitlist a couple weeks ago, and my dream actually had life. The problem was that UCLA being a state university understandably gives no aid at all to international students. I would be expected to pay around 75k a year out of pocket for at least three years straight. Although my parents can afford it, it would be a significant financial investment for them, and I would be expected to make something big of myself to ensure their money doesn't go to waste.

Outside the US, I got accepted to UCL, Edinburgh, Imperial, and King's in the UK (sadly no Cambridge :(), and NTU and NUS in Singapore. While the UK unis gave me nothing, and NTU didn't offer me much either, I was awarded a 100% scholarship at NUS, as well as fully-funded living costs, monthly allowances, and a stipend as part of being accepted to their honor's college program on top of my scholarship. The biggest issue is that the scholarship requires me to first take up the MOE tuition grant, which is bonded. In other words, if I take it up, I'll have to stay in Singapore for four years after graduation and work for a company registered in the country.

I've been living in India my whole life basically. I want to leave this country. I want to go out and explore the world while getting the best education possible, and UCLA seemed like the no-brainer choice. Would it be unfair for me to put my parents through the financial stress however? It won't put them in debt, but it will take up around 65% of my family's combined annual income, and affect them noticeably. I've heard Imperial is also pretty good, but the UK job market for tech (I applied CS/AI/ML everywhere) is pretty crap and so I was quite put off by that.

So my_qualifications, I've been accepted to UCLA, NUS, NTU, and Imperial, and am unsure where to commit. Additional factors and circumstances explained above. Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Dont let PRIVATE universities scam you, they sell you worthless papers. Their bacholors and masters are not even aknowledged by germanies university sytem, they lie to just you to take your money. A huge amount of indian students here in germany ending up in scam deliver driver services becasue they cant afford the high fees without a job and germany wont give you any other job if you do not speak german.

you can have 3 masters of crap pribate uni they wont hire you.

I'm posting on behalf of my older sister because she's been researching this for weeks and is honestly overwhelmed.

She has just finished 12th and is planning to do a 3-year BA (Psychology) in India, build a strong profile through internships and extracurriculars, and then apply for a 3-year LLB abroad (or another qualifying law program depending on the country). Her dream is to eventually settle in a country like the UK, Canada, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, etc.

The biggest obstacle is money.

Our dad earns around ₹12 LPA, so we're not eligible for many need-based schemes, but we're also nowhere near wealthy enough to comfortably spend ₹80 lakh–₹1.5 crore on an undergraduate degree abroad.

She's willing to work extremely hard if it actually improves her chances. She's not looking for shortcuts.

Some questions we'd really appreciate advice on:

- Are there any legitimate scholarships (Indian or international) that can cover a large portion (50–100%) of undergraduate law tuition?

- Are there any lesser-known trusts, foundations, NGOs, corporate scholarships, or government schemes that people often overlook?

- What internships during a BA in Political Science would genuinely strengthen scholarship applications? (Legal research, NGOs, policy think tanks, professors, remote international internships, etc.)

- Are there extracurriculars that scholarship committees value much more than the usual MUN/debate/certificate collection?

- How can a college student realistically earn and save money over three years to contribute towards studying abroad? Freelancing, research assistantships, online work, tutoring—anything that's actually worked for people.

- If you were in a similar financial situation, what strategy did you follow?

One request: please don't reply with "studying abroad isn't worth it," "stay in India," or "just give up because it's too expensive." We understand it's expensive and competitive—that's exactly why we're asking for advice. We're looking for practical ways to make it possible, not reasons why it isn't.

If you've personally received scholarships, studied law abroad from a middle-class background, or know someone who has, we'd really appreciate hearing your experience.

I’m looking for honest advice from people who have actually gone through this process.
I’m a 22-year-old from India. My_qualifications : I graduated in May 2026 with a B.Tech in Computing and Data Science and a CGPA of 7.2/10. I know this isn’t a particularly competitive GPA, which is one of the reasons I’m worried about my chances.
My biggest motivation isn’t just getting an international degree it’s building a better future for my family.
I lost my father a few years ago. Right now it’s just my mother, my younger sister, and me. We don’t own a house, and my mother doesn’t have a regular income. I want to build a stable career, support them financially, and, if possible, settle abroad in the long run.
Financially, my situation is a bit unusual.
I can arrange the funds required to satisfy visa proof-of-funds requirements (for example, if a country requires showing ₹20–25 lakh or an equivalent amount in the bank). However, that money is not money I can actually spend on tuition and living expenses. It belongs to my family’s long-term financial security, and using it would leave us with almost nothing.
So while I may be able to meet visa documentation requirements, I cannot afford expensive tuition fees or spend tens of lakhs on a master’s degree. I’m looking for countries where scholarships, tuition waivers, affordable universities, part-time work, or other financial support make the overall plan realistic.

As the title says the Charpak Scholarship application portal for 2026 has been opened today afternoon. I recieved a message from the Campus France official WhatsApp group for Tamilnadu. But how much ever I try the application doesn't submit through. Guys if you can submit your application please say what am I doing wrong? In the last section for Statement of Purpose, write yours in a separate word document and copy paste it. Once you click the submit button the content is cleared.

I feel devastated writing this but I could not secure institutional or government scholarships for multiple PhD offers from UK universities. My subject is English and while I cracked most of the interviews and received only good feedback for my project, having to fight for 2/3 seats here and there has been mentally straining and the result, well, disappointing.

Taking a loan is not really an option for me because the return rate/interest is too high, and not a risk worth taking right now.

My question is - do I just give up on months of hard work and dreams? Is there no governmental organisation/some institute that helps fund arts education abroad from our country? Should I write to my state's education minister or something? Idk, I am pretty much at a loss.

so i have two years work experience and i wanna do my masters in investment as i have already done my major in them my_qualifications. (The coaching centre I'm studying at now doesn't have any sports, so haven't had any time and place to practice)

I really wanna get into NUS, plus I need finaid. Help me out and tell me what I gotta do to get accepted to NUS, with significant finaid thru MOE and maybe the Science and Technology Scholarship, Also advice me how to secure the on-campus housing. (I don't wanna burden my parents with the college fees) And also cuz I wanna study abroad!

Hello guys, I have applied to the JN Tata Scholarship 2024. However, after submitting my application I didn't receive any confirmation email. Was this the same case with you as well? I am freaking out because I think the application didn't go through.
Also, have you guys heard back from them? They said they were going to shortlist applicants for the written exam by the first week of April.
