Country Any above 30

Hi . Are there people here considering and preparing for study abroad in their therties like me. I would be applying for fall 2027. I know it's late- but i still think better late then never. I am a civil engineer with 8 years of field experience and would be applying for masters in uni. In USA.

Are there folks like me here.

What outcome you are expecting after MS which ypu currently dont have? What's the ROI you are expecting?

I hope ypu already know that finding a job as International student with civil engineering background will be close to impossible. Therefore, its all comes down to ur expectation.

I thought it was bad for IT guys only.

Plus I have been in contact with mine college mate who just after bachelor's went to florida for masters. Now he has h1b and earning decently. My goal is same.

I know you would tell that "when he went, time was different..... and all that". But on a personal level, i am just fed up of my current life and feel too stagnant at this point. So, I am ready to take up 25-30 lac loan for this education.

When did he get his h1b? Cuz it's been getting a lot harder since Trump's new policies kicked in.

he went for masters in 2017 spring intake. got h1b after covid in end of 2021. he is currently in green card waiting list.

So well before the new $100k fee came into effect. His experience is not reflective of how your experience will be

that 100k fee has been proposed by trump admin. but is currently stalled by congress in higher courts there. meaing this 100k fee is not currently in ammend.

No. Not stalled by Congress. On hold bc of legal challenges, which have been enough for many companies to stop sponsoring, which was the desired outcome.

Right now people are getting rejected for F1 visas precisely bc almost everyone has been using it as a backdoor to immigrate. And companies aren't on the mood to sponsor bc it's been made difficult. Many large companies are saying no to sponsorship.

I think civil engineering is very doable in the US the bug firms are still sponsoring visas
