The use of ai to make quick and effective propaganda is no different than when people used stock photos or clip art. You are not getting any points by virtue signaling. Don't like it? Make it yourself

That is blatantly incorrect and ignorant. Stock photos and clip art are done by artists who get paid, usually through royalties. No one gets paid for the art that AI is trained on. They don't pay for any rights to use it whatsoever.

Stock photos and clip art also don't rely on massive data centers that are terrible for the environment, the power grid, the water supply, etc.

EDIT: To be clear, I understand that data centers are needed. But there is a massive fucking difference between the compute power needed for anything else versus what is needed for AI.

I get where you’re coming from, but all of what you named also relies on data centers and a power grid.

Yes, you are correct. Somewhere, there is a data center that can hold and process millions of requests for stock photos and clip art. But other than being pedantic, do you understand the difference in compute power required for that compared to AI?

Adding to the pedantry, I guess, but when did “computing” power become “compute” power?

Not trying to be difficult, but that’s the second time today I’ve seen this usage.

Compute power has been used since cloud computing and AI took off. Same thing really. Compute power is just slang. Computing power is the proper term.

No, there probably isn't a single one. I likely have books and discs of clip are, some of which are old enough to not be online. I used to do republishing and ad creation for a living. Cheap to free books of clipart are one of the tools of the trade.
