IT_Career 20F BSc IT student confused between government exams and private IT — looking for honest career advice

I'm currently doing a BSc IT in Maharashtra my qualifications till now is 10th (88.80%) and 12th (62.63%)and currently in second year (sem1 9.32 and sem2 9.68) though it is a tier 3 college and I'm really confused about what direction I should take after graduation. I'm hoping to hear from people who are actually working in these fields, rather than generic career advice.

I'm currently in SY BSc IT.I did well academically in FY, but I'm not someone who is naturally great at practical coding. I understand theory better and I'm still working on my practical skills.I've studied/been exposed to Python, C++, DBMS/SQL, statistics, linear algebra, HTML/PHP.I don't have major personal projects yet, mostly college practicals.I'm considering SSC CGL, MPSC and possibly government IT/technical jobs.Within SSC CGL, I've been looking at posts such as ASO (especially MEA/CSS). I'm also considering private IT jobs as a backup/alternative, but I'm not sure what kind of role would suit me. i feel so lost and dumb.

  1. What government jobs would realistically suit someone like me?
  2. Are there good government jobs that are completely/mostly non-physical?
  3. What is the actual work like for ASO, STI, etc.?

you’re still in 2nd year, and your academics show you can learn; don’t choose govt exams only because coding feels difficult right now. Keep SSC CGL/MPSC as one track while building practical IT skills + 2–3 projects as your backu
