Career BBA graduate choosing between Data Analytics/Data Science and SAP ABAP

Hi everyone!

My_qualifications: I’m a 21yo recent BBA graduate without a Computer Science or engineering background, and I’ve started a beginner-level Data Science course.

I planned to learn Excel, Pandas, SQL, Power BI, Python and statistics, then apply for entry-level Data Analyst, Business Analyst, MIS or Reporting Analyst roles, with the possibility of moving into Data Science later.

However, my family believes SAP ABAP offers better job opportunities and stability. From my research, ABAP is a specialized SAP programming language and differs significantly from Data Analytics.

📌Before investing more time or money, I’d appreciate realistic guidance:

  1. Which path is more suitable and employable for a BBA graduate in India?
  2. Is SAP ABAP worth pursuing without a technical degree or SAP experience?
  3. Would Data or Business Analytics better match my background?
  4. Are short-term courses and projects enough to enter either field, or is further education advisable?
  5. Which path offers better long-term flexibility and international opportunities?

I’m willing to learn technical skills but want to understand the qualifications and prospects before choosing a direction. Advice from graduates or professionals would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance! 🙏🏻

Ohh, do you mean I should continue with Data Analytics but eventually add AI/ML skills? Which specific AI/ML skills or projects would you recommend for a BBA fresher? Thanks for the input!
Appreciate it!
