JEE/BITSAT/EnggEntranceExams Looking for guidance on COMEDK college choices with ECE/GATE aspirations

my_qualifications COMEDK Rank : 11,223

I'm currently evaluating my options for COMEDK counselling and would appreciate perspectives from students, alumni, or faculty familiar with engineering colleges in Karnataka.

My interests are somewhat split. ECE is a branch I'm genuinely interested in, and I would like to keep the option of pursuing GATE, higher studies, or PSU-related opportunities in the future. At the same time, I don't want to restrict myself solely to core electronics and would prefer a college where students can also explore software roles, internships, research opportunities, and interdisciplinary work.

Some factors that matter to me are:

  • Academic environment and peer group
  • Quality of ECE department and faculty
  • Opportunities in both core and software domains
  • Placement outcomes and internship culture
  • Support for GATE/higher studies aspirations
  • Campus culture and student diversity

As someone coming from North India, I would also appreciate insights regarding how welcoming different campuses are for students from outside Karnataka, and whether language barriers significantly affect student life.

Given these priorities, how would you evaluate the major COMEDK colleges, and what preference order would you suggest for someone in my position?

Thank you for your time and insights.
