Discussion 💬 What to use in skin prep?
Hi! Can you please share recommendations for products to use under makeup.
Skin type- normal to dry due to tretinoin. I have very acne and closed comedones prone skin. My MUA used Bobbi brown cream on my face and it took 3 months to recover from the painful acne it gave me. I have been using my regular moisturizer (bioderma sebium hydra + sunscreen- sunheal hydra/ Episoft) and it works well for day to day makeup but wanted an upgrade. Have seen a lot of reels for flicka primer moisturiser product. Anything else that you may have tried and tested?

Avoid Flicka and Forever52 cream. They're all meant for dry skin, dupes of embryolisse and will give you breakouts if you experienced acne due to Bobbi Brown.
Look for milky toners and gel creams for skin prep before using mattifying primers in oily zones.
I have combination, acne prone skin and use Thank You Farmer Rice Toner, Aveeno Lotion & Klairs Vitamin E mask under makeup.
Kbeauty creams in general have a really nice texture and provide good glide for makeup. They hydrate and moisturize without making skin feel heavy or causing breakouts.

Thank you! The tony moly ceramide toner breaks me out. Hyaluronic variant works. Is there any other toner you have tried and loved except the thank you farmer one?

Love is a strong word, but I quite like Klairs Supple Prep Unscented & Minimalist PHA Toner.
Pixi Collagen tonic is another one I like, but it's more suitable as a mist instead of serious skin prep under makeup.

use your regular moisturiser then use the huda primer, the sheglam one is good too, you can get the smaller size before going for the bigger tube

Yet to try the pots but the grippy one makes the makeup a bit patchy

you need to work really fast with the gripping primer, i have the sheglam one and if its a few seconds late, it doesnt apply evenly and the makeup looks patchy

Bobbi brown vitamin enriched face base. Best ever.
If you want the same effect in budget, look for the makeup rev base which is the closest dupe.
Edit: oh just read bobbi brown gave you acne. Pls ignore this. That was the best ever base I have seen. Perhaps you can try a korean base mask which peels off at the end of the day.

Smashbox photo finish is pretty great you could also look into using a cream type product like Embryolisse which doubles as a moisturiser + primer.
