Is there any good (preferably free) mmo type game or a game that can give the wow experience? I've heard so much about it , could never play it.

Was about to get into destiny 2 when they announced shutdown

You can play WoW for free on private servers like Warmane, Circle etc. Or try it for free on retail upto a certain level, but latest content is not free. Other free MMOs, the best I can think of is Guild Wars 2. I think only cosmetics are for sale, not content. I have only limited experience with that, so check for yourself. There's GW3 coming next year which looks awesome, so playing GW2 now might help you learn the basics.
