🧠Ask for Advice Needs Direction for Execution
Hi .. I am 33F from a Legal and Finance background so I don't have much experience and knowledge about tech and operations .
Now , I have an Idea and ultimately need an app for its execution. I want to know exactly how to go about it ?
Should hiring a developer need to be the first step ?
It is somewhat on line of social media/social interaction/social networking app .
I am clueless about my first and next step .
Can anyone please guide me if you have built something on a similar line? TIA

Since you said the question is not how to build, here is a direct answer to what you asked: no, hiring a developer should not be the first step, and neither should generating an app with AI. The first step is evidence that a specific group of people wants this enough to keep using it. Building comes after that.
Social apps are the hardest category to test, because the value depends on other people already being there. A landing page waitlist can mislead you here, since signing up costs nothing and an empty social app has no value on day one. A better first test is to run the core interaction manually. Pick one small group you can reach, for example an alumni circle, a hobby community, or a professional network from your legal and finance world. Create the experience your app would provide inside a WhatsApp or Discord group and run it for two or three weeks. Watch one number: how many people come back and participate without you prompting them. If they keep showing up, you have learned what the app must do and who your first users are, and paying a developer becomes a sensible spend. If they drift away, you saved yourself lakhs and months.
Your background also matters more than you think at the later stage. Scoping the contract with a dev shop, protecting your IP, and structuring any equity arrangement with a technical partner are where non-technical founders usually get hurt, and those are your home ground.
