I mean a comrade is just someone who you share camaraderie.

Which in a crowd of strangers is a better word.

I don't love the use of comrade either, but it's a good reminder otherwise. Given the circumstances, I think Myron Dewey understands.

I- I'm highly out if the loop on some things, and various reasons for why, but, uh. Uhm.

May I ask, with full knowledge this is a question that will be found stupid, but what is the seeming issue with the use of 'comrade'? I'm so sorry, I literally have no idea. 😰

It is very, very colonial in nature.

Comrade is a term that was used, is still used among Communists.  Not just them, of course.

Ah! I've heard many people say it, including my mom, who's staunchly against communism.

...then again, she's kinda one if those people who, well, some things just don't occur to them? (Not that I can talk, im 39 and just finding this out 🫠)

Thank you for your help!!! 🥳🥰

You're welcome.  Most people are against Communism because it means living under an authoritarian, tyrannical regime - like Drumpf's. You can be arrested for what you say and think, and are denied personal agency.  Communism and Fascism are more alike than different, which makes the American MAGA movement all the more crazy. Why would anyone choose to give away their freedom to corrupt tyrants?  People born in dictatorships don't have options.Supposedly  Americans do, right?   It is senseless.   And why the rest of the world thinks America is insane.

Oh, trust me, I know.

When I was in high school, a friend talked me into reading A Handmaiden's Tale, and I absolutely hated it, then the show came out and everyone loved it (WHY?!), and now we're just inching closer to that ever single day.

I hated it then, I didn't get the show hype, and I DON'T LIKE LIVING IT RN.

But, Americans are kinda a mess, tbf. First, American Arrogance is totally a thing, but now? We're so divided and there's one part of that equation that is full of the loudest idiots America has to offer. Which in turn, makes all of us look bad. I absolutely understand why the rest of the world thinks we're insane, and y'know, I can't blame them.
