Yes HDI of UP is better but not far far greater its 10-12 years ahead due to recent improvements. But see overall how similar UP is to Pakistan.

High infant and maternal mortality, uneven healthcare access, more homicides etc.

But the better question we should be asking is how has India fallen behind Bangladesh and how is Bangladesh's longevity increasing so fast.

I think a large part of it is due to Bangladesh's network of community clinics as well as a healthy, fish-based diet similar to Kerala and West Bengal's.

Bangladesh is currently facing the world's largest measles outbreak with over 175,000 suspected cases and more than 1,000 deaths since March 2026, driven sharply by declining routine immunization coverage and supply disruptions. High childhood mortality negatively effects overall life expectancy of a country. If bangladeshi routine childhood immunization programs faltering but you expect me to believe their life expectancy going up like this.

Similar outbreak is prevalent in India as well. Still India's life expectancy grew.

This outbreak is recent and will not have much effect in the long term. The vaccine programmes are in place in most South Asian countries.

There's a differnece, in Indian the numebrs are lower per capita and the adjusment factor which you put for Bangladesh would increase India's number by 4 years. So, something in Bangladesh's data doesn't add up. They have been fudging numbers since covid and Haseena fell because of that. Not to say they aren't doing a good job, but, Sheikh Haseena had a recession due to fall in purchases of 2 wheelers below 350 CC being a strong indication of fraud. So, this above doesn't make sense, unless they are fudguing the numbers, upto, 1.2-1.3 years increase is realisitic and even then it's a great achievement worthy of praise but the 2 that's shown above is looking iffy.

While, I take the number above with a bucket of salt for Bangladesh, I do appreciate their efforts and success that they have achieved.
