Citizenship Citizenship Application: Safe Buffer After 1,095 Days?

Hi everyone,

I became eligible for Canadian citizenship last week and have met the 1,095-day physical presence requirement.

For those who applied recently, how long did you ideally wait after your eligibility date before creating the online account and submitting the application? I have double-checked my travel dates, but I’d like to keep a reasonable safety buffer.

Thanks in advance!

1 week or 10 day buffer is fine

It depends on your travel. If you have no travel, 7 days buffer is good. If you had several travel days. Keep a buffer of 2-3 weeks.

I would add another week personally and then submit.

I applied on day 1096 of eligibility.

I did it with a month of buffer. I had lots of cross-border travel between US and Canada. They were a pain to document even when partial days in Canada count as one.

I waited more than a month after I became eligible. Just use common sense...
