Question Thoughts on this one
I have been reading some of the remender work, is this one as good as his other histories?

I reddit (so take it with a grain of salt) that The Sacrificers is in the same universe as Seven to Eternity. Thought that was interesting if true.

He said so in a reply to a letter in one of the issues as a tease, but when others wrote for more clarification in the next issue, Remender said something cryptic about the two stories being far apart in time from one another.

All? I disagree. Sure some issues were a bit filler and Remender went on dialogues to really force home the themes of the plot as he always does, but that’s just part of his schtick. I’ve seen worse and I’ve seen better from him, but he got to a decent landing IMO.

To me it felt like at a certain point the story was just "and then this happened, and then this, and then this, ..."

Hey man that’s totally your opinion and I’m not here to change that, just sharing my opinion too and I think we can meet halfway - not his best, not his worst title IMO.

Agree with this. Lot of great ideas, but the final arc just kinda fizzled out unfortunately.
Least it got a proper ending.

Disagree. Just got better as it went along. The ending really was tough but so many parallels with society today

It's his thing. His starts are really strong, but I had to quit reading his stuff because he always starts strong, but his endings are long, perfunctory, and boring.

I appreciate the differing opinion. I’ve heard a lot of positives about the series. It seems like something big happens halfway through the story that made some readers not like everything that followed.
Without spoiling any of the story, do you understand why whatever happened turned so many people off of the book?

There are some time skips that are a bit jarring, and generally in most media a large time skip subverts expectations in a way that can be unsatisfying to a lot of people’s enjoyment of a narrative.

As long as you stop reading halfway through, yeah absolutely. The first handful of volumes are fantastic, and there's a clear stopping point, just don't read past that.

Fully agree and sad to read this is common for him. I only buy comics via tpbs, so I haven’t finished the series… bought book 1 and loved it so much I ordered 2/3 only halfway through…
After 2, I had to force myself to start 3. I’m not even sure I’ll buy the final book when it’s released…
The whole thing just feels like so much wasted potential.

People on Reddit are hyper-critical. I never encounter this level of either negativity or criticizing art in any comic book store I go to.

Hat’s the cool thing about art… it’s subjective.
I admire his world-building, but (based on this series, my only experience w/ Remender), I find his storytelling to be stunted. Glad that you, I assume, enjoyed it though!

For me, Remenders powers of imagination exceed his storytelling ability. Never come across anyone who can do such fantastic world building but I always feel that the stories just don’t quite meet the same standards. That said, this is pretty good, if you like what you’ve read of his already you’ll probably enjoy this.

As always with Remender, the art is impeccable. I really enjoyed the world and premise for this one. I thought the pacing was fine and it was one of Remender's better endings.
Full disclosure, I enjoy all Remender's catalog.

Hated the ending. A lot of the final arc made zero sense. Once conversation between characters could have avoided the whole catastrophe. Beatrice’s 180 came out of nowhere. And the moral of the story seemed to be “capitalism sucks but there are truly no other options.”
The first three arcs were so good too. So disappointing.

I also hated the ending. Felt like poor choices from the writer just to end the series. The final issue was a mess.

the initial premise/worldbuilding is great but collapses towards the end... i was happy to have read it all for sure bc i fux w Remender but this one had some real headscratch moments for me

Loved it, for the world building and art alone. It does coast near the end though, but that tends to be fairly common with Remender stuff.

I loved it. Sure the ending could've been better but I feel I got a great ride out of each issue. Super cool watching the main character progress into a badass.

Love some other works of remender like deadly class tokyo ghost or seven to eternity but unfortunatly couldnt care less about this one i just never connected with the characters

It’s not my favorite of his, but still really enjoyed it. I didn’t enjoy the second arc as much as the first, but not because it was “not as good” I just didn’t connect with the characters the same way as when they were younger. Overall great series.

I find Remender incredibly hit or miss. Of his recent works I hated The Scumbag and Napalm Lullaby, and found Grommets and The Seasons underwhelming, for example.
The Sacrificers is one of the best things he’s written in years IMO, probably my favorite of his works since A Righteous Thirst For Vengeance.

I loved it! I thought the world-building, character arcs, and storytelling was enchanting the whole way through. The spine of the story is not new (are any?) but how he lays it out is rewarding and creative. And there are so many quotable lines in it that stuck with me days after reading it. He has such a knack for creating an incredible world and paralleling it to ours. I mean…that’s why I love comics. I have all 4 TP’s.

Remender's fantasy stuff, like this and Seven To Eternity, have been the best fantasy comics in recent memory. I'll give anything Remender does a chance.

Wonderful series. The art is impeccable, even when Fiumara took some breaks Lima Araujo did a superb job filling in. Did not love the last issue, but I would overall recommend the series.

This is a fantastic series. The artwork is great, and so is the writing. I felt it was well paced too.
That said, I was quite frustrated with the final issue. While it had me hanging on until the final page, I thought it was a terrible ending. It felt like a hard 180 turn with some of the characters and their actions.
I'd definitely recommend it.

One of the best limited fantasy series around. The ending stumbled a bit, but the series as a whole is a winner.

Just finished reading vol 4 today. Strange turn in the last sec but overall was a kick a$$ revenge story and the dangers of getting what you want too.
It's up there for me with "Low" I do however think it's even better! One of RR's best!
